Paul.....we have rode together on several rides but have only spoke to each other briefly, I regret I haven't got to know you better these past few years. I want to thank you for being youself, and sharing your life with us. I admire and respect you.

Thumper I too have been fighting cancer for the past 8 years.  First was Prostate, had PSA of 22, got Radical surgery for that one, then it was Peritonal Mesothelioma, Had a very rough time, major debulking surgery and removal of every organ I can live without, followed by Hyperthermic chemo, about 10 hours in surgery.  Gave me 4 years, and then it returned, just underwent another round of the surgery and hypothermic, only about 8 hours this time.  On Chemo now and this time it is hitting a little harder.  I dont believe in the Docs estimates at all, and think they just set you up to give up.  If I get another four years, it will be great.  If it returns again and if its possible I will probably do a repeat.  At my age I just dont know, especailly if the POTUS health care plan is not killed.   I refuse to give it an inch, and reject it with all my will.   It does tend to drag you down over an extended time, but never get discouraged or give in to it.  I truely do believe Prayer and attitude have a tremendous positive effect.  You have to be proactive and controll your own situation.  Dont be afraid to question anything the Doc says or does.  I will be praying for you and winging positive thoughts your way.

Paul, I don't know you either, well, maybe I do in a sense. Those that do personally, obviously love you, and respect you. Perhaps we will meet someday, it is my hope that we do. Prayer is a powerful tool available and it sounds like you have many praying for you, well add another. God bless you sir.

Hang in there Paul.  Looking forward to riding with you again.  You made me feel better about hanging out with this bunch of crazies when I went on my first group ride last year on Veteran's weekend.

Your story humbled me.  My fight has been tough but nothing like your's.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you.  I feel a real kinship with those of us that are involved in the fight.

Good luck my friend. cooldude

Paul, I read your post and all the replies and it made me think of a story my father told me. It was 1958 his sister was in the hospital in Chicago having surgery. The doctor came out of surgery and came over to my father, gave him some bad news, told him his sister was just full of cancer and there was no hope he should tell her and her husband what was going to happen. Well to make a long story short my dad died in 1976, that sister, she died too but not till 2004. She made appearances at various medical conferences over the years to explain her unexplainable life. She just says, God decides when life begins and when it ends. Please hold on to that.
God bless you.

Paul, positive thoughts your way.  I know you are tough, I remember how ticked you got when the guy moved your bike last year at the VOA rally in Maggie Valley.

Paul

Lots of good comments here; the VRCC has some good folks.  cooldude

The 4 months estimate surprises me, but not alot. We've talked about it. I think the best approach is the one you have chosen, make the best of the time you have. Of course that means lots of riding.

I'm ready when you are my friend. As Joe says, bring it, let's ride.  Smiley Smiley
