...the project continues.

From the box...

After some improvements...

Almost done now...

Those of you familiar with AR's might notice that it looks very similar in concept to a LaRue PredatAR. That's pretty much what I'm going for.

What's left? I'm not 100% sure. I MAY get rid of the ASAP sling plate. The Magpul MS3 single point sling is a definite improvement over the MS2 predecessor but I think I like the Savvy sniper setup enough to bite the bullet and spend the money. But that also means I'll want QD points at the stock base and on the stock itself. So that also means upgrading the stock. Magpul CTR or STR? I really like the UBR and the fixed cheekweld but 265 bones for a stock? Dayum...

Oh, and I'm planning on adding an AAC blackout flash hider so I can mount a ratchet mount suppressor at some point in the hear future.

For those keeping tabs, I've got about $1880.00 into it so far. LaRue lists the PredatAR at $1495.00 but without sights, no BAD lever, no forward grip and no ASAP plate and a standard charging handle. I also have all of the parts I took off which I could sell for a few bucks (but won't) and the original A2 upper that I plan on using in a future rifle length build. I also have the 1:7 twist vs. the LaRue 1:8. So actually, I didn't make out too badly now that I look at it and think about it. But I'm also a tinkerer by nature. Just through the process of selecting parts and putting it together and talking to all of the people I've been talking to I've learned a ton and that's worth something to me.

Looks like building that rifle would have been a ton of fun. Now, if ammo prices would just come down......

Yeah tell me about it.

MH, it was pretty accurate out of the box but I have yet to do any long range shooting with an optic to test groups. It's a Colt though and they're reliably accurate. The 1:7 barrel helps.
