It seems like they all appeared today. I have seen only a few the last few days. Today I removed an old chili ristra from clients back patio. When I tossed it in the trash, about fifty moths or more flew out of it. The ristra not the trash. Freaked me out. Thank God I didnt bump it as I was carrying it through her house.

Does anyone else have an infestation of the little flying critters?

EDIT    My friend just posted this on facebook......"Driving home tonight was like cutting a swath through a blanket of moths ~ I could here the thumpity-thump-thump-thumps of their awful little carcasses hitting my headlights and windshield...sooo gross. Anybody know how long this dusty-winged infestation is supposed to last?"

Not sure if this is what is happening by you, but back in the early to mid 80's we had an infestation of Gypsy Moths caterpillars.

They were all over the place, and when they hatched, it was UGLY! Shocked

Yep, they appeared yesterday here in Colorado. They are everywhere. I was sure they didnt migrate until late May or early June, but I guess with the really warm April we have been having they started earlier.

Probably just a big "Hatch".  In The Hudson Valley NY sometimes the June Bug hatch is so big you dont want to go out side.  Patty and I were once riding around Greenwood lake and the swarming moths were so thick it was like snow in the headlight. She had her head stuck in my back and i was ducking under the windshield. It was a mess getting them off everything!

worst I have ever seen was along the mississippi river along the great river road in WI with the mayfly hatch.  Their were literally 100's of 1000's mayflys' on that road causing cars to literally slide along the road and you dare not apply your brakes very hard just like on snow, well almost.

Years ago when i lived in Illinois i was going in to work late at night. I would leave around 2300(1100 p m) on my naked 1973 Honda C B 500/4. My shield on my 3/4 bell helmet was caked enough that i had to remove it and just ride with my glasses as my first and only line of eye protection. I saw this really large moth in the light from my hi beam and tried to evade it. Long story short it wrapped itself around the right lens of my glasses and the juice and body parts got into my eye. The eye felt like it was on fire and instantly swelled shut. I rode the last 15 or so miles to work like that. No gas stations stayed open late at that time. Even after flushing it out at work my eye stayed swelled shut for 2 or 3 more days. On the way home that morning i bought 4 more shields for my helmet. cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Be grateful its only moths!
I live in the desert and our latest infestation is scorpions. Most sprays don't work. You have to shake out all cloths and shoes before waring. You have check to the dog and cat beds every day. The smaller the scorpion the more poisonous.
Count your blessings!

We live in the desert also(more or less) and DD found a scorpion in the living room a few days ago. I personally have never seen one in the house. It was a little one. Shocked

DNR was doing aerial dusting for moths in the area around here the last few days.  Hopefully it works.
