Yeah I've heard a lot about Rotella for years and might try some today. I've run Mobil 4T for a good while but now it's $12 a qrt!! Anyway Autozone has 5 qrts of Mobil1 & a $13 Mobil1 filter all for $32!! So if I bought the rotella for $22 and $13 for the filter I still come out smelling like a rose!

where some foks make a misake is they think like in c cage they can run synthetic for several thousand miles.. not the case in motors that share oil with the transmissions.. in that case prolly 2500 miles and its time to change

The Mobil1 says it's good for 15,000k miles, but I don't buy that. I will go 8k and change the filter @ 4k.

sorry, don't buy that every 2500 miles to change full 100% synthetic motor oil in any type of eqmt. let alone our valkyries. I run 11 dollar per qt. Amsoil 10w-40 and am 100% the oil if ever get analyzed at 5,000 miles will still be fine. I would not hesitate on running that oil 8,000 miles no problems. Any motor oil that is full synthetic should easily last 5,000 miles between changes. I doubt I would go that high on non-synthetic oil, more like 4,000 miles tops more every 3,000 miles or so between oil changes.

WELLLL.I didnt buy it either until I spent about an hour on the website i mentioned... that guy is a HEll OF A LOT SMARTER than me.. and has countless hours of research and testing.. he claims that the grinding of the gears in our transmissions kills the viscosity in waaaay less miles than if it were just in the motor.. and he has test results to prove it.. to each their own.. ride safe

Are you talking about Bob the oil guy? YES. If I were using conventional oil, I'd change every 3,000 k! Like you I did hours of research on oil way before I even joined here. Anybody reading- be sure NOT to use any oil that says 'energy conservative'!! It's written on the back of the bottle, a circle that either has it or not.

I had an oil analysis done by Blackstone labs,Motul syn. at 4k miles. They said this engine was showing no signs of wear and that the oil and additive package could go for twice that milage. If Honda says we could go 7500 on reg.oil,I don't think 5-6k on syn. is unreasonable.Their exact quote was"very nice engine and trans at 71k" BW

Where are you buying your Amsoil? My last change I bought the gallon jug and a qt. of 75w90 for the final drive. The oil alone didn't come to anywhere near that $11/qt. price. Final price per qt. was only a few cents different than Mobil 1, and for that price I'll take Amsoil any day. Was way less than $9/qt.

I was buying the Mobil 4T racing oil til it hit $11.99 a qt! So now I'm trying the regular Mobil1.
