There has GOT to be a trick to installing the rubber boots.  If you know it please let me know.

Bake them in the oven at 250 until softer (just guessing).  angel

You were just complaining yesterday about people posting in a thread just to post and here you do the same thing.

Well sorry.  It was in humor as to the oven..... but I did think the general idea of warming them up might help them go on easier.

If you cut the hole the right size, just fold them into the hole. They are rubber. You won't break them.

Years ago I hit a deer and destroyed pod & light. Never liked the fog lights. My son purchased PIIA driving lights for the pods for me. Much better road lighting but a bit larger than the Honda fog lights.

Struggled for awhile, then I cut the rubber at the center of the outer edge. I then start at the bottom with the notch and work my way around. The cut seams together perfectly.

Hope this suggestion works for you.

NJF6, can't say a similar idea to yours hasn't been playing in my mind today. Buy a 4-5 inch pair of driving lights and adjust the opening in the pods to fit then cover the edges with either chrome or black door edge guard trim.

When I recently installed a set of Big Mike's pod lights I found that even a millimeter of extra material inside the scribed lines would make it difficult to install the rubber.  If the pod plastic is removed all the way to the lines, the rubber will go on very easily.

When I installed mine, I used a file to finish the edges to exactly where the guides were for the cuts.  That must be the key because the rubber boots just fold in and over after that.  There wasn't any trick to it other than getting over the fear of doing a total SNAFU on a hard to find part.

Might try Pinwall on ebay. I got a choke cable from them when mine gave out. Saved some bucks and it was in real good shape. They pull bikes apart and piece them out.
