Had to replace a worn out rear tire today, so figured I'd tackle some other maintenance items while I had it apart.
Asked a couple of auto shops nearby if they would dismount/mount the tire for me, but they wouldn't touch it - even though they have a rim clamp machine. I understand - fear of anything different. Didn't put up an argument, just took my money elsewhere.
Stopped at a local indy shop to have them do the tire swap for me - no dice. Too busy - wouldn't get to it for a few days.
Went to the Honda dealer down the road, took it right in, but mounted the tire backwards.

Said (and I quote): "Must have come from the factory that way, because I just mounted it like it was on there before." Don't know about the factory, but I know it was put on right at Wheelers in Robbinsville NC last time I had a new tire mounted last year. Dealer fixed it and re-balanced it and I was on my way.
Pulled the rear pumpkin, checked all the splines, good to go. Cleaned all the o-rings and everything else, regreased it and put it all back together. Changed the final drive oil to a Mobil1 75-90 Synthetic.
Installed the rear tire, torqued everything down, axle bolt first, then 4 nuts for final drive, then moved on to other stuff.
Installed the iPod hookup that I built out of an Alpine iPod cable that I picked up on sale. It's wired into the accessory plug, and hooked up to the aux in for the stereo, with an additional line in plug that I stuck to the top of the triple tree so that I can hook up other audio devices if I want to.
Does everyone's "accessory" power supply only come on with the "Ign" position and not the "acc" position on their interstate?
Checked the petcock while I had the tank off - flow in "on" and "res" without vacuum, so I pulled apart the vacuum side and found that the diaphragm had gotten crooked, so I straightened it out and the problem was solved.
Got the electrical finished up and changed the engine oil and filter.
Once that was done, I threw the bags and covers back on (cursed at the bag supports for a while until I remembered I have to install the left one first or it won't line up), and went for a ride.

tl;dr: No hydrolock, no worn splines, bike still rideable.
