Meddling government agencies and a complete waste of taxpayers' money.
I see no reason for the question posed on the original post.

I had to turn my head away when that woman came on teevee this morning... at least the
blue colloidal silver guy wasn't a gross-out...

Wish there were dates in the article. We haven't had a day up here ( NY, NJ, CT) in a while that would have been able to produce a severe sunburn. Where was the burn? For much of April, we've had to wear light jackets or at least sleeves. If the burn was on a part of the body that is usually covered by clothes (Def not swimsuit weather), I'd say there's more to it than she admits.
Also, when asked about the burns, why did the child say she was in the tanning place instead of saying it was a sunburn from being outside??? A child wouldn't make it up.
As for meddling, it is the responsibility of the school, daycare, pediatrician, or anyone, licensed by the state to report the slightest hint of abuse. It's the law! And a damn good one!! Children are incapable of asking for help for many reasons, one of which is that they don't know they are being hurt by the ones they love.
I think the authorities acted appropriately. This is a child. Better safe than sorry.
