After one year or so, I finally got my hearing aides fixed. So, I got on the Valk and went to meet Art, who came down from Oregon in his beautiful (135K) Valkyrie. At any rate, every time I stop at idle, this whining sound comes on. Very annoying and it worries me. Well , I had Art listen to it and he says that the sound is typical of Valks; not to worry. He started his Valk and the same sound came on. I then took off my hearing aides and could not hear it any more. That's all well and good but do all Valkyries make that sound? My Valk reads 38K on the odometer and Art's w/135K sounds just as good as mine, except that his Valk is way prettier! Any thoughts?

Watch some youtube videos of Valkyries and you can hear the whine in some of them. Should not be all that loud though.

Hearing aids are not perfect when it comes to sounds, so what you may be hearing may only be one sound that they pickup on. Hearing aids are usually geared to voices to accentuate that range so maybe you are not really hearing the sounds accurately. Mine doesn't whine it kind of purrs but I do occasionally hear the belt or the alternator. This would be a good test turn on your hearing aids and listen to the motor on a car and see what you hear. Add on s to the body do interesting things and not always the way that we are used to.

Like a lot of their owners. Get some Cobras. You'll never hear those awful gear and induction noises again.

You have the bikes confused with their owners.

I actually like that whining or more to me like a whirling sound at idle, sounds cool not like that the HD potatoe, potatoe, potatoe chug that sounds like they are going to die.

Everybody's real quick to put a check mark in the box saying that it's O.K. (and it probably is)
Paxton, get someone with keener hearing to compare your bike to another Valkyrie. If the whine is too loud, you could have something about to go haywire in the timing belt area, or an alternator issue, ect.

All my whining went away last week, right after I installed the TwoBros 6X6 pipes.

This is my buddies '08 Goldwing. Does your whine sound anything like this?
I thought that it might have some belt issues as I've never heard a wing or a valk make a noise anything like that. Since I posted that video, I've had more than a few folks tell me that it's normal. My buddy says that every wing he's had sounds like that.....and he's had three of them of that generation. All I know is, is that my Valk doesn't whine or make any kind of noise anything remotely like that.

I been wearing aids for 12 years, don't wear when riding to loud and the whining ,motor and exhaust over rides the stereo. Set stereo at 18 doing 70 sounds great. I have a 75 percent loss both ears. Used to think the Valk motor was the quietest, 5 feet from it I can't tell it is running. Put my ears in and that is one noisy S O B.

Paxton, have Art listen to your Valk. His ears appeared to be good when I rode with him.
Yes, Art does have a great Valk. Love the color.
