ok seeing the lift adapter is positioned on the side stand frame, how the heck do u change it?

not sure what one you have...the ones i have installed is the pro-lift from ebay.  I put jack stands under the highway bars...then loosen the side stand bolts...and slip the adapter under the side stand bracket.  Tighten and use...

You dont need the bike on a lift to work on the kickstand......just upright

You can put jackstands or homemade stands under the engine guards, or simply place your lift under the forward part of the engine and only the front wheel will come up.......lift to the first safety and then work on the sidestand

Some aftermarket pipes will interfere. If so, put a thin block of wood under the crankcase.

You don't need the adapter to protect pipes. It's there because when the forward arm contacts the bottom of the motor the rear arm is still 4" or so from contacting anything.
