oxalic acid, first try...

I read all the labels at Lowes and decided they didn't have oxalic acid, so I went over
to ACE and found this...





Here's some of the rusty stuff I replaced when I got my eBay Valk...





Here's the same stuff, after 12 hours in a vat of acid... the harsh light of the flash
makes all the little pin-hole places where the rust bled through stand out. The oxalic
acid didn't make the parts new, but it did a really good job...

you can buy oxalic acid at a drug store.  When I worked in a foundry, the emissions would turn your car orange, oxalic acid would clean it right up.

The wood in the last 2 pics is much brighter and clean looking compared to the first 2 pics.

Heehee..

The "deck" in the before pictures is 5-ply 3/4 inch treated plywood in the Valkyrie shed.

The "deck" in the after pictures is much older, many times rained on before I got the house
dried in, 5-ply 3/4 inch treated plywood in my living room.

My kidneys stones are made from calcium oxalates (oxalic acids).  I wish they would biodegrade on there own!

A warning on the bottle I bought stated, "If ingested, death cannot be avoided".  Kept my hands away from my mouth! I read that my Hershey bar contains Oxalic acid....Someone once told me that toxicisity(sp?) was dose related?  ???

Chocolate is high in oxalates, so is spinach.   Maybe why Reeses stayed away from that combination of candybar.   

Most dark sodas are high in oxalates as well.
