I just received a link to this from the NRA. A few wins for the good guys is always good news in my book. I wonder if number six will allow all those M1 Garands and M1 Carbines Obama banned from being brought back into the country to be imported and sold to US citizens? Sure hop so, we can't possibly save enough of those historic firearms. http://www.nraila.org/legislation/federal-legislation/2012/eleven-wins-for-gun-owners.aspx

what is the rule on antique firearms? can't own one that is older then ??? I've been watching some of these storage units TV shows and all too frequently there are firearms in them being auctioned off. (what kind of a sick twisted individual leaves his guns in a storage unit? ) I've seen pinfire guns, harmonica guns, a blunderbus all bought and sold, and then resold. I want a garand, and a M-14 and a M1-d....... and a few others

You can get a type 3 FFL which enables you to buy qualifying curio and relic firearms in much the same way a dealer buys firearms, and at dealer prices I think. However, you must be doing so to "enhance your collection", not be in business to make money. I thought about getting one of these licenses for a while. They're not that expensive and they apply to a lot of really cool firearms. But, as with all dealings with the batf, you have to understand the rules and follow them or they will come and get you. Here's some info I found in just a few minutes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Firearms_Licensehttp://www.cruffler.com/becomingcruffler.htmlhttp://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/curios-relics.htmlRemember, my knowdledge, (if you want to call it that) concerning "curio and relics" is general and at least 5 years old so don't trust it very far. I was homeless after having split up with my girlfriend and sleeping on a picnic table in North Mountain Park at night and really needed the money. But, selling them still haunts me.

I'm looking forward to part 5. Stupid ITAR regulations, can't even order a scope shipped to Canada. Gun parts are just as bad.
Canada is a small market but, every dollar in a manufacturers pocket is wanted in today's economy.

EVERY firearm I've sold in the past haunts me, which is why I don't often add to the aresenal. overpopulation could be a bad thing!

Just about every firearm that I've gotten rid of is one that I wished that I had back, with one exception.
I bought an M1 Garand from the DCM some time ago with the intention of shooting competition. I never got around to it and by the time that I did, the prone position would've been a 24 karat bitch for me to try to get up from.
Instead, I decided to donate, as a member, my really nice M1 to the Korean War Veterans Ass'n for a fund raiser. It did my heart good to know that they raised $60,000 clear because of it. It was unfortunate that the Korean war combat veteran who won it, had just died the month before.
His wife, accepted it for him, (he was a collector of Korean War memorabilia) and now it hangs on the wall with an inscribed plaque, never to be fired again, and will be passed on to her sons when she passes.
The $400.00 that I paid for the M1 is trivial compared to what the M1 did for the veterans and veterans group. I'm glad that I played a part in it.
The M1 which George Patton said was the best service rifle ever, is now doing duty in a different way.
I think about it quite often.

I've sold one gun in my life and I just recently got it back. But I tend not to sell them because I don't buy guns impulsively to begin with. Unlike my buddy Eddie who will walk into a gun shop with me intent on buying nothing and then walking out with an 800 dollar shotgun.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

Another nice thing about having your C&R FFL (Also informally referred to as a cruffler) is that if you have one, many of the gun parts dealers (Midwayusa being the big one) will set you up as a dealer account instead of just another member of the great unwashed rabble...
Some things the prices are the same or just a few pennies off, but on some things the price difference can be pretty impressive...
In the 5 years or so I've had my C&R FFL I've purchased maybe 5 guns with it (Would hafta go check my bound book to know exactly), but I've used the discount from Midway USA a LOT more often... Well worth the $30 for 3 years (I think that's the cost?) of the license...

I may have just decided to the C&R FFL. Thanks much for the info. Mike
