Hi all, took a 5 day trip from Pa to the Dragon via skyline, BRP and Moonshiner 28.  Words can not explain the roads and scenery.  Man I envy you guys that live down there.  I thought we had mountains here in Pa but after last weeks ride we only have rolling hills.    Anyway coming back on Monday we got stuck in that nasty rain storm and the bike and i were soaked to the core.  I pulled her in the garage open the bags removed the covers and turned  a big  fan on her.   I also sprayed my turn signal switch ing switch high beam, horn button, started switch and sprayed them all down with contact cleaner as well as the fuse blocks key switch.  Is there anything else i should do or is she good to go after she's cleaned up??

A real frog choaker huh!!! I've been in that stuff and never did a thing. I use waterproof grease in the wheel splines and a light coating on the axles too. No rust. Of course in Florida, a plastic bucket might rust.

Rain affects that tube somehow for some reason. Rode to indianapolis last summer in a 70mph bike wash, and noticed at a fuel stop that the tube was almost full...

Huh Huh Grin I strip down ASAP.  I rode in the rain before but never that long, boy did that SUCK. Do you really think I need to pull the rear again. I just replace the shaft, pinion cup and u joint and I always use Bell Ray waterproof grease.

As far as teh rear end.......Most likely its still ok.  However, in real heavy rain, if you rode through high water, that final drive area is far from sealed.  And if you drove at any good speed thrugh high water I think there can be a flushing of the splines.

Im jsut saying its a small chance, but I would check it if it were mine

Rode through a huge 2 hour storm coming home from Niagara Falls last summer. A month later during a rear tire change found the pinion cup full of rust. Can't say for sure that the trip through tons of standing water was the main cause, but I'm sure it didn't help matters.

These bikes are made to ride, NOT tinker with.

Ya tinker and you are stirring up problems.

Two days of light to heavy rain from Winnipeg to Southern Ontario last July. Hung up the rain gear, had a shower and put the bike in the shed. No problems then or since. Don't worry about it unless your having drive issues.

ditto!!  first thing i would do is park it in the garage, take a nice long hot shower, grab a beer from the fridge, sit down on the lazyboy and flipp through the chanels!!

rode through many a soaking storm, never did a thing.  bike has 72k miles and i've only had an issue with the turn signal once, nothing hard to fix either just a little contact cleaning and dieletric grease.  turn signal worked fine, just had an issue with staying on after i made the turn....   Wink Wink
