Trying to read about HPOP on some forums and cant get anywhere. All they do is bash one another, personal attacks, ridiculous. I just cant read that crap. So I quit reading the threads....

Dont know crap about diesel and the fuel system. Low pressure oil pump feeds the High pressure oil pump and that controls the fuel injectors.....something like that.....

2002 7.3powerstroke

I am needing an HPOP and wondering if anyone has ever changed one out. What brand of HPOP did you use? How hard was it to change out and about how long did it take?

Thanks, Im sure I can get help here without you guys fighting....hopefully.... Cheesy

I've never changed one out.  but helped a buddy with a 7.3 change out his injectors.  it's located on the front, drivers side right up on top (you most likely already know that)   it should be bolt on however there will be a HP rail oil line running to the injectors.  this may have o-rings to deal with.  something tells me you may have to wind that engine over to prime the HP pump with the engine oil pump.  do you have a service manual it should tell you

good luck

Just thought about it and I believe there is a plug on the top of the pump, i would fill the new pump with fresh oil  before I tried to wind it over.  the HP pump should stay full of oil all the time.

Luckily I have not had to work on that area of my 7.3l so I can not directly suggest a specific unit but I can reccomend a guy that has not let me down with all the other products he produces and sells online.
I believe his name is Bob Riley, and his website is http://www.dieselsite.com/

Great guy VERY reliable parts that I have purchased, I bet he would answer your questions if you would consider buying one of his HPOP units.

P.S. Absolutely no affiliation or personal profit associated with this guy or his company....
