I bet if Zimmerman had pulled his gun when he first confronted Martin none of this would have happened. Not because it would have been right ,but it wouldn't have been the last resort for Zimmerman which by this time may have feared for his life after being beaten and with his poor planning.

Not that I advocate going around and waving your gun at people, but it's an interesting thought. They do tend to make people want to disengage in a hurry.

But since when did pot make people MORE aggressive?

as a former pothead all I can say is back in the day whilst 'laid back' I was the least antagonistic. you could set me down at a table with Gandi and Mother Theresa and I'd be like "why are you guys so angry"  Grin

Skinhead;
I am not clear about what point are you trying to make. ???
"...Confronting legal,Confronting legal/assaulting illegal..." I agree; I agree / I agree... etc.... Roll Eyes

Do you recall the old turn tables that played the 33-1/3 RPM? The LP records are back. Shocked
One had to keep the record clean and scratch-free. otherwise the needle would get stuck and  It'd go something like this...

" Confronting is legal and assaulting is illegal... Confronting is legal/assaulting is illegal... Confronting is legal/assaulting is illegal
Confronting legal,Confronting legal/assaulting illegal."  Wink

Back then I was too stoned to get up and fix it. So my good neighbor would come to my pad and fix it for me.  Smiley
Then, I would reward him by gettin' him high enough to enjoy the broken record... It kept happening all the time, like this...

" Confronting is legal and assaulting is illegal... Confronting is legal/assaulting is illegal... Confronting is legal/assaulting is illegal
Confronting legal,Confronting legal/assaulting illegal." Like that. Whatever. Embarrassed Lips Sealed

Musclehead;
Why should I use the spell checker? Like my old neighbor, it is your job to fix it for me!   Embarrassed laugh 2funny

I'm sorry, I was going for an old Seinfeld routine and it just doesn't come out right when it is typed.  It's the routine where George is explaining two sides of an issue, and switches back and forth, and then to make a point, repeats one side a cou[le of times rather than switching.  I apologize for my lame attempt at humor.

I do believe brandishing is a crime in Florida.
So if Treyvon did confront Zimmerman, and he brandished, Treyvon could have had Zimmerman arrested for brandishing. It's a no win situation. Show your weapon and not use it, go to jail. Pull your weapon and use it, go to jail.

If you feel threatened then it's not brandishing.

But is the final determining factor the possibility of jail and not whether you actually have to kill someone? That's kinda messed up. Even if it is, I'm pretty sure that if convicted of brandishing you'll do less time than 2nd degree murder.

No need to feel sorry or to apologize. My challenge is that I am "culturally deprived."  Roll Eyes
I mean,, there is a lot of stuff that "I don't get" because I grew up elsewhere, away from "Americana."

Yes, but if you do brandish you will be going to jail for something that might never have happened. But if you wait you could be charged with murder.
And, yes, showing a weapon is brandishing in Fl.

Drugs while making a person more compliant can remove the normal, I shouldn't do that also. I doubt that brandishing a weapon would have been reported either. In that neighborhood with people that you know I doubt it very seriously not to mention who would confirm his story that he brandished a weapon?  I never saw anything.  Roll Eyes

Brandishing? Eh, not sure. I do know that a properly holstered weapon that is oc'ed can be called brandishing by alot of uninformed leo's.  uglystupid2
