gal friend got thrown from her horse a month ago and has been in acoma.. now    a 32 year old buddy was para gliding on monday.. it was his first flight.. and he did just what he wasnt suppposed to do.. he tried to turn when he was about 75 ft. in the air while coming in for a landing. really not sure if he was hang gliding or para sailing but  either his chute folded or his wing quit workin and he plummeted to the ground creating a large dent in the earth.. he was in surgery for 6 hours and has no feeling from the waist down.. drs. won know for 72 hours what the bottom line is.. WHAT A DRAG..

sorry to hear your friends having very bad luck and  here is to making a full recovery.
 

Sad to say, but sometimes you gotta pay to play even though it is not fair and unlikely to happen, but unfortunately, it does.

A few years back we went on a family week long vacation and went to a cabin on the lake up north and basically hung out and went fishing/swimming mostly.  Well, I must have torn my knee miniscus while lifting the heavy battery out of the rowboat twisting it the wrong way since the next morning I woke up and couldn't walk requiring a $5,000 knee surgery. 

I guess the alternative on trying to live life to the fullest and doing fun things is to sit around doing nothing getting fat and die overweight of a heartattack?

Yeah, had a friend that never did anything more dangerous than fishing. Died of kidney cancer at 37. BIL died at 50 from ALS. I am retired from a semi dangerous job (glass business) after 42 years. Wife says I lived through that an now taking chances riding "that d--- motorcycle" I said what does she care, alive I am just a meal ticket, dead, she is rich.

Been a firefighter/paramedic for 30 years.  Seen alot, Enough to know life is short. Still snowboarding and riding my bike. Just before totaling out my bike last month, I commented to my riding buddy, if I die today on my bike, it's been worth it. Almost did die, but back looking for another interstate.  I'm gonna be dead alot longer than I'm alive. Time is short for everyone. Use up your time wisely.

the GOOD NEWS is she came out of her coma..and word is she's "PISSED OFF"   BAD NEWS is 3 days after surgery he still has no feeling below his waist.. HOPEFULLY that will improve once the swelling subsides..
