This is our 4th large ride like this and we are proud to say we have never had an accident nor have we ever lost anyone on these rides…

If you are looking to do some peg dragging and race through the mountains you are on the wrong ride, we ride at a moderate speed and collect the entire ride before we make any turns, so no one is left behind…if you don’t see the rider in front of you its not necessary to speed up and try to catch up, he’s probably just seconds in front of you, just relax and ride your own ride we’ll be there, enjoy the scenery and be careful in the turns, 95% of the road is gravel free, but there is one section of new pavement that also has loose gravel along the edges which has been picked up in some of the turns so watch for it when you see the new blacktop..

When we stop for gas these are timed stops of 30 minutes from the time the last bike pulls in, this will give you plenty of time to make a rest stop, fuel if necessary and get a drink, etc…..when you hear a set of air horns go off, this means you have 10 minutes to finish whatever you’re doing and be ready to ride, the 2nd blast indicates we’re ready to pull  out, this way there is no scrambling around because you weren’t watching the ride leader…

The lead rider will have a cb and will be on channel 10, we moniter what going on within the ride thru out the ride from folks who have radio’s and the drag rider, who we hope is Chrome Dome who has the best radio and has done many of these rides with us..

Be sure to have your bike in good running order when you arrive with good tires and brakes, make sure you are fueled up Saturday morning, there is a all night gas station right next to the hotel, kickstands up at 9:00 AM, also make sure to have breakfast because we will not be arriving to the lunch buffet before 1:00 PM, you can get a snack at the gas stops if you get hungry…

Ride safe getting here and we’ll see ya at hotel Friday....

Buffet supper at the hotel Friday night from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM cost $12.99 which includes drinks and dessert.
Buffet breakfast at the hotel Saturday morning from 6.00 AM to 8:30 AM….$9.99 drinks included along with fruits etc.
Buffet supper Saturday night from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM same price as Friday.

The restaurant is doing these buffets just for us and we will have our own dining area, so this will not be open for the public….

http://www.msgroup.org/Tip.aspx?Num=062

That's an interesting read Paul, a little confusing at times with all the numbers but the end results makes sense....I went and rode the Back of the Dragon yesterday duplicating the speed and timing for the ride..most of our riding will be in 3 & 4th gear with all the curves, especially those that are decreasing radius turns...in the lower gears and correct speed it makes them very navigable, most of the speeds were around 30-40 mph, 50 in some of the longer straight aways, we'll just take our time, relax, put no stress on the riders and we should be fine...I once joined a group ride where I didn't know anyone and they were discussing riding skills and one guy turned to me and said "well we know you can ride" I said "how do you know that?" His answer was "because you ride a Valkyrie and no one that can't ride rides a machine like that" I'd like to believe that is true... cooldude

I agree, not so much the bike but the riders.  What really irritates you about some ppl on group rides? I go on quite a few and just wanting opinions. Now we all know about the one that wants to set a land speed record, some love to run WOT ...slow down quick, making you stand on your brakes, then start all over again! IDK if some know how to maintain a steady speed and pace.

Anyone got any more pet peeves? Those are a few of mine.  Cheesy

I don't do large group rides anymore, but what I can't stand at any group ride is when the rider behind you stays right on your tail...almost like he's thinking he's in the Blue Angels and has to stay right off your wingtip in formation...I stay many bike lengths behind the guy in front of me and wantbthe same consideration....so now I usually ride tail gunner or next to tail gunner...  cooldude

Know whatcha mean, I kinda feel like they might bump me and I tend to speed up a little. I guess I could stand on my brakes but someone might get hurt!  Cheesy   2funny
