Moved to SC last year, born and raised in Texas. These freaking SC drivers scare me. I drive 12 miles on I-77, 75% of the drivers are doing in excess of 75 and the posted speed is 65 mostly. Heck one time I was doing 85 following 2 lanes of traffic and a freaking Prias <sp> passed me like I was standing still.
I will say that there is a huge difference in driving 15 miles plus between towns and having towns blur between themselves. West Texas and the panhandle of Texas is still mostly agriculture. I got lucky and was able to drive on I-20 after they raised the speed limit to 80. It really makes a difference when you travel 180 miles and don't need to stop. The interstates I have driven in TX and OK have service roads, mostly on both sides. The ones here, rarely. Means lots of people that probably should not be on the super slab, still have to use it to travel. You know the ones I mean, white knuckled grip on the stearing wheel, look scared to death, and traveling 15 mile an hour UNDER the speed limit.
aww heck, I've seen lots of folks in Texas using the interstate for one exit when there is a service road and they don't get up to speed. but I'll take Texas roads and Texas drivers over alot of the country.
