OL's  1999 VF750-C Magna fires right up, but dies after she rides a very short distance.  It's difficult to restart but, afterward, runs OK, idles at lights, etc.

Any insights?

Sounds like textbook fuel starvation. Does it have gravity feed like a Valk or a fuel pump?

Gravity feed.  The petcock is separate from the diaphragm.

These guys know the Magna well. Try them. I really enjoyed my time there when I had my 83 V65 Magna.

Thanks, GL, my wife is a member of Magna Owners of Texas, another great resource; she posted on their board, as well.

My magna did the same thing once. Turns out the vent tube to gas tank was plugged. Cleared it and it ran stronger than ever. If you open the gas cap and it runs good again then it is the vent tube.

I blew through the vent and put a T in it, as well.  Gas flows out of the fuel valve OK. I replaced the vacuum tubes that go to the jugs. It test rode OK, Sunday, but wife reports a slight starting problem, Monday.

I ordered the diaphragm since she hydro locked a few weeks ago.
