DON'T DON'T DON'T START WITH THE FORD THING!! i've got two fords, both have over 140,000 miles, over ten years old, only bad thing about 'em is that they're starting to rust out and look old!!! (all is forgiven as soon as i see your cycle!! and yes, there should be a "sarcasm" smiley, what would it look like?) Stanley, man you just look HOT (not in a sexy way either.....)

Since I have been visiting this forum, I have seen and enjoyed so many beautiful photos of members Valkyries. Also read many posts mentioning this V-strom. No offense, but if all I had to ride is that butt ugly Suzuki, I'd just get a Prius. Please don't post any more pics, just as bad a those wal-mart shopper people been seein on here.
I've always said V Stroms were Suzuki's attempt to out ugly BMW's GSs. Marty U2 Is that the best you can really do? Marty I'M A MAN of few words.. NUFF SAID

Rainy all day, could not get out to get any beauty shots. Here's my pride & joy ('71 Club Car - 36 Volts!). This will chew up any Valkyrie & spit it out in the sand traps. Air horns are from IH, air horn tank is chrome American LaFrance fire extinguisher, grill is guttergaurd w/chrome trim, headlights are '59 Apache turn signal housings w/leds, tail lights are pvc elbows w/MG lenses & leds, seats are from Bass Pro, Grandson made the plate on back for the Ford guys, which is chain driven like the v-stroms, custom made windshield and pinstriping by SignArt. Have a well worn red Corvette steering wheel to add later. Beside the "Black Widow" is the '97 Jade green/cream Valkyrie. It's true, the '97's are faster. " The '98 Blue/cream Valk is the one I like best next to the "Black Widow". It has has hardbags awaiting paint to match. Think I want a Memphis Shades batwing for it after I sell the '97. XL350 is what I ride when off pavement, big ole hunk chrome dripping off that oem muffler. Got several more Hondoodees, including a SOHC 750 four, I can't wait to get running, a '71 CT90, which did you know was the biggest selling m/c in the world? Well hope I got the pictures figured out. I'll try and figure out smiley things next, if that's what it takes.

Hey, Solo I couldn't get an address to p.m. you to aplologize for getting on your nerves, but I sometimes I get a kick out seein people get out of shape defending their HD's, non-hondas, or anything. Believe me it's all in fun. Don't know how to do the funny faces yet, just figured out how to attach pics here today. Just need to learn how to take pics. now. Did not mean to attack personally with the wal-mart crack, just a failed humerous attempt at comparing wierd looking people to Suzuki's. Don't mean to offend wal-mart shoppers either, I shop there my self, but you gotta admit some (a lot) of those people don't look normal. Better to publicly apologize anyway. Me and your bud Alf had a talk, and I hope it's all good wih you both now. must show up later?

I, too had a 97 Valkyrie bought in ,96. Two of my sons also have ,97 Valks. The third son rides a Pacific Coast. I would still have the ,97 if it had been lighter or if it would've had reverse but Life is full of "IFS" I'll be looking forward to any pics that you post when you can get your collection outside. As an aside, my Valk was pinstriped in yellow by a sign painter, He also did the Korean dragon on the side of the Valk sidecar rig, see the previous post and my avatar. Thanks for posting the pics, Signart.

Until very recently(less than 2 weeks)i would ride in a T-shirt jeans boots gloves and my half shell helmet when it was in excess of 85 degrees F. What changed you ask?? A member of this board sold to me his used Joe Rocket armored mesh jacket. And i'm here to tell you i am a convert. Knowing now that(GOD forbid)if worse comes to worse and i do go pavement surfing i have a much better chance of lessoning the injuries. I also realize the mesh is not quite as good as leather and is a trade off but is way better than a T-shirt. Wayne-i know that one of these days i to will be looking at something lighter than a Valkyrie. Hell-i not only want to live as long as you have but i want to ride as long as you do. Peace and RIDE SAFE. P.S.-Thanks Skinhead.

I did have a Phoenix mesh awhile back but sold it to my son and bought a First Gear. Both work great but the First Gear mesh is longer past the waist than my Joe Rocket was. Fits better for me.

Joe Rocket ballistic series is what the shoulder patches indicate. Armor for elbows shouders back and tail bone. My ride sunday it was about 80 80 degrees F and it was like i had the A/C on in the cage long as i was rollin. RIDE SAFE.

As I mentioned, I wear Diamond Gusset Defender jeans with kevlar in the knees and butt. Diamond Gusset jeans are VERY comfortable and give extra room where it's needed (Are you listening Stud Stanley?) The kevlar should give the protection where it's needed (I don't want to find out) but it's also conducive to 'monkey butt' since it doesn't breathe like cotton.
I did wear at one time Aerostitch pants but they're 'way too hot especially when you should wear jeans under them due to the nylon possibly melting in a getoff as Clark said.

Never understood the kevlar pants thing. Not the protection but the wear of them. What I mean is, if I wear them to a ride I'd think they'd be a little stinky ofter 3 days.

Most hotels I stay at dont have washing machines. A day ride across IA I know they would be stinky! Wont bother me but it may passenger! I was just wonderin. Now how do they hold up in the wash? I know us EMS folks dont wash our pants after every shift. Unless its really hot and sweaty or they get body fluids on them. Summer time you looks at every 2 weeks, maybe. These pants dont hold up well for 50 washes a year. At $60 a pr it can get expensive.

I haven't washed the jeans but once so far. Lots of bugs on them now but they still don't smell. I'm going to wash them today, glad that you reminded me. Overall, they aren't much hotter than regular jeans and definitely should give some protection in scrapes across the asphalt. I like them. I use suspenders with them and I don't even notice the weight and, with no belt, they are very comfortable.
Mark has been wearing regular Diamond Gusset Jeans for a long time and they'll outwear regular jeans by three to one.

I agree to a point. But I'd like to invite you both to the Gulf Coast dressed ATTGATT, and get a second point of view I did notice as I wrote this (1300hrsCDT), the temp here is 90F , and in Golden,CO it's 61F . You've ridden with me, Bobby, and you know I do the ATG(almost)ATT thing in Houston, right alongside you and your powered cooler. Just about the only thing I will forego is the pants, if it's a short ride, and I regard that as pure laziness on my own part. I mean ARMORED pants, folks. I usually do wear pants in general when I'm out in public.
