finally heard back from a potential employer, it's nice to hear something besides crickets  2funny

it's an aggregate company about 25 miles away. I'll have to commute  Shocked I haven't had to commute in forever! as an over the road driver, the office goes with you. before that when I worked for the Post Office the time clock was 200 feet away.  Undecided good and bad, I could only call in when actually sick cause EVERBODY drove by my house to get to work  tickedoff

I really don't mean to sound unsympathetic you're an over the road driver-good record-willing to stay out(being over the road it comes with the territory)and you've been out of work since April?? Has the over the road market changed that much since feb 13 2009??? crazy2 Only reason i ask is cuz when i was employed at Heartland Express i got phone calls and letters from other companies that wanted me even though i was already pulling for Heartland. Wink Even after i was retired i fielded phone calls about possible employment for 4 or 5 months after i retired. Grin Just curious and i hope the new job works out for you. cooldude RIDE SAFE.

nope, I was specifically looking for local work. probably could've had a dozen or two OTR jobs by now.
I was already hired by Indian River Transportation when I quit JCT, but my wife needed me home for a while. the funds are running out so I would've had to go back on the road until this job came up.

I remember you saying that you were leaving JCT. Thought I read about you thinking of heading to the Dakotas to work the oil fields.

I'm sure I was kidding, I'm too old to be a green horn in the oil fields  angel

filled out an app, interviewed with the HR gal. I would've gone for a road test but they didn't mention it in the email I got so I'm going back tomorrow for that and orientation. I need my physical card to get behind the wheel.

like most companies you start small and work your way up as they get to know you. 5-6 days a week, I said I get to have days off in the week? not used to it.  since i've been home I've only taken a day or two off, I've got too much to clean, mow, weed wack, paint, organize, yadda yadda yadda........
