On another gun forum I haunt, someone posted up wanting to know WHY their Google Search ("Shopping") was no longer working. Plainly put (for those not aware of how to do so)... when you Google something you want to learn about, it brings you to a page that has pages upon pages of links related to your search parameters. To the left are a list of tabs, ONE of which is "Shopping". When you click onto THAT... it focuses your search to the best pricing available, as well as who that vendor is, and the link to where to buy. Google's new policy (to go into affect July 01, 2012) is to refuse to support (within the shopping tab) anything related to GUNS, AMMO, KNIVES, and you'll no longer be able to quickly research that within Google. Suddenly... Google, Chrome, Gmail (sadly, that will include my Smart Phone that must have a Google account to access the Android platform) won't be on my list of things to want to use. Please pass along the content below to folks you know who own/use "Guns, ammunition, and knives". Good ol' Free Market Capitalism needs to give 'em a good swift kick in their asses.
According to Google, the tools of our hobbies here are considered prohibited to their new policies.
The following products are not allowed on Google Shopping:
Guns, ammunition and knives
As such, the online merchants that you support, and that provide economic legitimacy to the firearms industry, will not have a web presence. As Google is a business they have the right to do this, and also have the ability to see their error and change this course.
Google needs to hear a very strong opposition to their decision by:
