Did you guys get any flooding this past week?  The reason I ask, is that we nearly lost my father in law on Wednesday night.  He had been out of state visiting his other daughter.  When he saw all the storms in northern Fl in the news he figured he ought to go home and check on the house .  He lives out in the country between Lake City and Live Oak - out near McAlpin.  He didn't get near home until it was almost dark.  Its all two-lane country roads out there and he's driving along and all of a sudden hits some water.  It was enough to stall out his pickup.  He tried to get it started a couple of times then noticed that it was coming up over the hood.  He got out and it was up to his chest and the truck was starting to move, so he climbed in the back.  He's got one of those hard covers over the bed, so he sat up on top of it.  Fortunately, he had his cell phone and had kept it from getting wet.  He called 911 and told them where he was and what had happened.  By the time they got out there, him and the truck had floated off into the woods.  He was able to get their attention by waving the cell phone and they sent a boat out to get him.  He's ok and back at home now.  His house was high and dry but they still  don't know where his truck is.  At 82, this was way more excitement than he needed.

Wow, I'll bet he will renew his contract on that cell phone for sure.!!!!!!  Yes we are still suffering the ill effects from all the water.  I am on standby for work this weekend and have already been in to work a couple of times.  But could not go into Lake City the way I normally travel.  441/41 just S. of Lake City is under water and closed.  Some of the alternate routes are closed also.  The road near my house that goes East is underwater.  Live Oak was flooded and now the courthouse has been evacuated and all the records moved by the National Guard to another location as there appears to be a sinkhole or two in the downtown area that is causing cracks in the courthouse and adjacent businesses.  I-75 was at one time within 4 feet of being flooded, but I think it may have subsided enough that it will be o.k.  Do a search for Live Oak flooding and you will probably come up with some pictures.
Glad he made it out o.k.  I know Cheryl must have been freaking out when she heard that.

Well, the thing was, he calls Cheryl and tells her he hit some water and stalled his truck, but he's ok, and that's all he said.  She thought that was odd so she calls her sister and finds out the rest of the story.  He's not one to overstate things.
