Heading out this Saturday for Lake Placid NY. via the BRP and Sklyline Drive. Planing on camping
out for a few days as a base camp and taking some rides around the area. Anybody know of any
good places to camp that are M/C friendly that you don't have to go down a mile of gravel to get
to? Would like to hook up with some other people to ride with and see some of the area. Then up
to Lake Placid to pay my respects to my fianc'e who passed away last year and ride some of the roads around there then on down to Inzane. Anybody know of any good places to stay and go
see while I'm up there and any good roads on the way to Eurkea Springs? Thanks guys for your
help. Bill Smiley

Ride safe Billy, can't help you gett'n north from FL but, gett'n to Inzane from KY could be a hoot depending on how much of a hurry you're in.  We'll talk about it when you get here.

If you haven't ridden the BRP before Waterrock Knob, Mt Mitchell, Raven's Roost are just a few over looks worth stopping at / riding up.

BBQ here is pretty good

Almost anywhere in the adorondacks have great roads. Lake George is a good destination.
Maybe Saratoga Springs.

There are a couple MC only campgrounds off the BRP. One south of Asheville, NC, and one off hwy 321 around Boone, NC.

Once you leave Skyline,, Gettysburg is a great little town and is certainly interesting.. Then its not too far to the New York finger lakes area,, a lot to see,, wineries, good views, The Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport is a must see,, there are numerous camping areas along the way..
I'm not sure how you plan on getting to the Adirondacks,, but,, I think Rt12 heading north from the Utica area is the most interesting.. You're heading to one of my favorite areas,, Saranac and Placid.. There is a lot to see and do there.. The Adirondack museum is a must.. There are also a lot of camp grounds there[expensive tho]..

Thanks for all the info guys. Gettysburg sounds good as I'm trying to avoid big cities and staying
mostley on smaller roads with some slab involved. Probably grab 81 and boogie to NY, then head to
Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame and then make my way to Lake Placid. Then I think
I'll head to the finger lakes and make my way to Canton OH and see the Football Hall of Fame as it is on the way to Inzane. Thanks for the help.

Leave out of Cooperstown on 28 & 80, take 28 to Hwy 20 west, turn north on State 51 to Ilion Ny.
51 is like a short tail of the Dragon, about 5-7 miles down thru a small canyon. Super ride.
