Excellent project and outstanding result.   cooldude

This thread has gotten me to thinking and wondering.  But, I don't want to de-rail this thread so, I'll start a new one asking a few questions.  Really cool project.

OK So you have made the foam plug and carved/shaped it to the style you like.

Then how do you get the fibreglass on to the plug?

Then how do you smooth the fibreglass?  ???Made the plug with a wood frame inside that I could disassemble fairly easy. covered it with blue foam. Shaped the foam to what I wanted. Painted the foam with latex paint. then sanded it smooth.  Then sprayed about 8 coats of PVA ( Poly Vinyl Alcohol ) it sets up as a thin film that is a mold release agent.  Then started laying glass on the form, 6 layers of cloth with a layer of roving mesh in the center. After the glass cured, rough sanded it, then put a layer of areo light bondo on it, the bonda is filled with glass spheres, very light weight and sands easy. After that, removed the wood form, then the foam. Actually fairly easy, just time consuming.

Nice job!  That's almost exactly how I did my saddlebags.

Well, took the trailer for a short ride today, All I can say is what trailer, cannot even tell it is behind the bike. Run it up to 75 mph, smooth as glass. I am going to have to add a couple spot mirrors, as I cannot see it in the regular ones. Got it officially weighed and a tag for it. Weight came out to 71 lbs. Over all I am very happy with it.

I have been kicking the idea around. Possibly after Inzane, I will get the body finished right, still has a few rough spots. Then pull a mold off the body, then I can get the glass work done at a local glass shop.  Suspension & frame I can do here, also tongue and hitch.  I know I can beat the price of a Uni-go by a bunch.

Nice job  cooldude

If the price is right, I'd seriously be interested in one.  Gloss black is just fine.   cooldude

Seriously.  I'd love to have a trailer, but I have no place to keep a conventional two wheeled pull-behind motorcycle trailer.

The two single wheeled trailers that I've found that interested me are prohibitively expensive.....but they'd be ideal for me because they're small enough that I could find a place to store one in my tiny little one car garage.

Those being the Uni-go and this one.....

I can't afford either one of those, but if you decide to make a run of these little trailers and the price gets right, please put me on the seriously interested in one of your trailers list.   cooldude

Share the knowledge. You know the old saying; "give me a fish and I will eat for the day, show me how to fish and I will eat for a lifetime.".

Please post more on the process.

Just one word of advice, DON'T FORGET IT'S BACK THERE!!!!  I've heard of guys forgetting they're pulling a trailer to have it get clipped on bumpers as they navigate parking lots!!!

Also, it needs LED's Wink

Put led turn and brake, also a center led light for the tag and brake. Reflective tape on the rear, they are bright. should be seen OK.  One thing, it is the same width as the bike, just have to watch backing up.
