That's how long we were without power due to a fast moving 91 mph wind storm here in Indiana last Friday afternoon Record breaking temps in the high nineties and humidity of upwards of 50 %.

Much damage, thousands of trees and power lines down. but no one killed.   Seniors in my apartment complex were almost at the end of their rope

Heat indexes this week to be in the low 100's with high humidity.

The Gold Wingers convention in Ft. Wayne will probably be quite similiar to Paducah 2004 and 2005. Shocked

We didn't get that much wind here, but we did get a bunch of rain that did no good as it came too fast and just flooded stuff out for a short time.

I waddled out to my garage, flipped the switch, and fired up the big ole diesel generator.    It put out NUTTIN.

Shut it off, plugged the house back into normal power system, and proceeded to investigate what hoppen.

Took me about 10 minutes to find the problem, when I had the big ole generator apart for cleaning and annual maintneance & etc, I used some string instead of my normal thread to hold the brushes till I can get the end cap back on.    Guess what, the damn string never broke to let the brushes fall down in place.      Found an old knife from one of my model cars and cut it, the took my LOOONNNG minature needle nose pliers, these are my baby ones, stuck it in the dust and air hole, pulled one out,   the other one was a little bastard, but I got him cut and pulled.    Fired the big old bitch up again, and she generated juice to run everything in the house.    So, the wind skirted me and I didn't need to use it.

Wow, a long time to be without air in this heat. Did it rain with that storm?

Hang in there, it'll get better. After Ike we went 14 days without power. Hopefully you have a generator to help keep food cold and  some fans going to cool you. The heat is tough I know, thoughts and prayers for you and everybody else in that area.
