Don't threaten me with a good time

Greeneville, TN

« on: July 04, 2012, 06:36:16 PM »

Had today off from school so decided to face the heat and take a ride. A big thanks to gordorad for being a great logistics coordinator and sending me a route map for the Southern Missouri Area. I'd also like to give a thanks to all small Missouri towns for having a Casey's General store handy. I downed almost 10, 44oz fountain cups of sweet tea. Stopped about every 25-50 miles to hydrate.  cooldude

I got out of Carbondale about 9:30 this morning and headed to Chester IL. Stopped to visit the home of a fellow sailor before crossing the river. "I Yam what I Yam"

Made a food stop in Farmington Missouri. One thing I miss about not living at home anymore is Imos pizza. If your ever in the St. Louis area its a must try place. Best damn pizza ever

So damn good even the roaches like it

I Left Farmington and continued towards Salem. Great roads and great scenery through Mark Twain National Forest

It's always a great ride until a bird decides your a target for poo dropping.

As always when I travel alone I like to stop at small community Veterans Memorials and pay my respects to fallen brothers.

Crossing the river back into IL

The money shot (SmokinJoe trademark), taken at Wayne Country Veterans Memorial in Piedmont Missouri

Hope eveyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July.

Preston enjoyed the post! Your bike looks immaculate as always, a little leaner w/o the hard bags.  Grin

Just for the record, tea has caffeine and it will dehydrate you. I can only imagine how hot and humid it was, but I would drink more water than caffeinated drinks on such days. FWIW, take care.  Roll Eyes

+1. Caffeine is a diuretic (causes your body to remove more fluids).  In weather like this, plain old water (not ice water either - the temperature can cause issues) is one of the best things you can drink.  And when it spills all over your bike because of that pothole you just hit, you're not left with a sticky mess.  cooldude
