Last night we were watching the news when a report of yet another fetal motorcycle crash. They didn't state the names of the victims but it was a bad one. A car went left of center and hit them head on.

This afternoon Twila calls me and said they released the names and she told me that the two that died were her ex husbands best friend and his wife. They leave behind a 22 year old daughter and a older son. I met Jim once at Twila's sons graduation. Seamed like a good guy. I called Eddie (her Ex) and gave him my condolences. Here is a article on the crash........

Watch out people we're dying left an right.  In wi. here over a month ago we had a group of Mich. riders do a annual run that they been doing for quite a few years a run around Lake Mich. an never had a problem till they got around Fond-du-Lac area an some Drug head loonie that been in trouble alot took them on on the wrong side of the freeway. Killed 2 that we know of an badly injured others. The whole thing kinda went quite so we really dont know how they all are. ABATE donated a bunch of money to help them out.   A few years ago I had a dum bass fly past me on the bike on a 4 lane trying toi elude the state patrol. It was fast an I just hoped he stayed in his lane. The Patrol ws about a mile behind. I flashed my lights hoping theyed figure he was on our side.   Be aware People. Watch those other drivers, It is your life try to protect it.

Yeppers....a young man my sons graduated high school with died here just last week. 30 years old, riding home from work.  A guy with a suspended license decided he could beat him through an intersection 4 houses away from his home.  Sad story, may you rest in peace Jason, you were taken too soon!

It was 10 years ago this week that I lost my little brother to a motorcycle crash where a tri-axle dump truck pulled out in front of him. He was 26 and I still miss him.  Embarrassed

personal opinion here

1. I firmly believe that if you are in a motorized vehicle and kill someone in an accident that is your fault you should be chargable with murder. If you choose to drive dangerously or under the influence, you are also choosing to use a large blunt object in a dangerous manner.

2. I am in favor of the death penalty.

I have seen bumper stickers with "Kill a biker - Go to Jail", I woudl prefer "Take a life - Donate your life"

They used to charge people with "Vehicular Homicide"...haven't heard of that being used at all in the past 10 to 15 years or so.  It used to have the same sentencing as Homicide.  Toooo bad...cuz its happening everyday to someone.

Not a good scene. Vehicular Manslaugter was a good deterrent. Now its 6 months with a light fine. I'm surprised ya dont get a trophy and a trip to Peter Piper's.

Ride fast and ride hard,

Death is watching and will take the first that flinches.

I can't recall when this happened, but the sentecing was just handed down. A young man chose to drink and drive and hit a motorcycle. Killed the man and his wife on the bike. They left behind 2 young children. He was 40, she was 30. I think the guy that killed them was in his early 20's.

Did I state that he KILLED them?

The sentence was 8 years.

Did I state that he KILLED them?

Eight years. That means each life was only worth 4 years.

I used to be involved in drugs. I undoubtably caused alot of pain and misery to other people. But, as far as I know, I didn't directly or indirectly kill anyone. I pray to God I didn't. The state of Illinois was pushing hard for 9 years. With the help of a lawyer, I didn't do anywhere close to that, but I DID learn my lesson. It's been over 10 years now.

My point is...does anyone see a problem here? I don't mean drug punishments are to severe. I mean murdering someone on a motorcycle has a penalty that is almost nonexistant. If he had killed only one of the couple, would that be 4 years then?

Did I state that he KILLED them?

Hell, if you choose to kill your wife, you would get a whole lotta time in the joint....unless you simply run her over on her motorcycle. tickedoff

BTW...the young man who killed them cried at the sentencing. I wonder if they were tears of sorrow for what he'd done, tears of pity for himself, or tears of joy?

The funeral for Jim and Kathy is tomorrow. Twila and I will be attending.

I heard that the woman who hit and KILLED them may have been texting. Not sure on that yet but it would figure. If it is so they should charge her with vehicular homicide. But I really doubt that will happen...

We feel the same way.  cooldude We can gear up and die or be comfortable and die. Do I know I can die? Yes. Do I care to die do something I love? No. While I am attentive to my surroundings, I will not ride in fear. That is no enjoyment.

Well the Funeral for Jim and Kathy was last Saturday. The place was packed, thy had alot of friends.

I read in the paper the other day that their daughter has filed a lawsuit against the girl that killed her parents. The girl was younger that 18 so her name was not released in the paper but it is now due to the suit. We still have not heard what she was doing in the wrong lane but I have my suspisions. I think she was texting, but have not heard one way of the other.....

sorry to hear the sad news.  Almost everyday I hear someone crossing the centerline and hitting cars and more so lately motorcycles as well even just today read a semi crossed the centerline and hit a couple on a cycle head on in a nearby county.  Not a good way to go out.  Be wary of your surroundings as I too have seen traffic come at me over the centerline recently.
