A quick note of thanks to thse that helped me work through my battery problem.  Easiest fix ever!  I hope they all go like that

I am a new owner of a 97 Standard.  I LOVE it.  I am a new rider, getting the itch to get my license in my 40s a couple of years back.  My first bike was a mega-barn queen of a 99 BMW K1200RS, that has 2000 miles on it.  I got it for a great price, but considering I am build more like an NFL linebacker than a motorcycler racer, the riding position was unconfortable.  Also, I enjoy going 35 mph much more than 135 mph

I bought this Valk and I could not be happier!  I am sure that 99% of my riding will be mindless bobbing around through the country, and this seems like the perfect bike.  I'm not into the loud pipes, I dont see myself as much of a group rider, and I love that it's such a giant bike, but doesn't ride like it.  Any problems with manuvering are due to my skill set, not limitations of the bike.

I downloaded the service manual, and promise to do all the PM that I can handle.  It's got new rubber, new battery (duh) and is in great condition.  I have learned that I like that it doesn't have a clock, and using the odometer as a gas gauge is easy-peasy.  I agree that my butt is a pretty good gas gauge, and rides of 100 miles or more make a gas stop a welcome breather.

Thanks for all your help, and I look forward to to all the interactions...as long as they dont have anything to do with my Valk not starting

I dont see myself as much of a group rider

There's different kinds of groups... I've been on some awesome group rides with
the people on this board, and have heard about some group rides I wouldn't
have lasted 10 minutes on...

Group rides are kinda sorta dependent on who yer ridin with. And your own personel skill set. I have been on more good group rides than bad ones. Wink And i really try to keep the odds on the good side. coolsmiley RIDE SAFE.
