The purpose of which is, according to Morris:

The real purpose of this is that it will set up an international agency that will be in charge of controlling the flow of arms throughout the world. And while it will theoretically have jurisdiction over arms flows across national borders .. you know like the Interstate Commerce Clause... we see how that can be expanded. And it really will have the authority to tell member nations to adopt policies within their own countries to facilitate regulations of flows across borders. And those could include, will include, registration and may well include bans on arms and guns.

Now if this treaty is ratified by the Senate, it assumes parity with the 2nd Amendment. It is as if there is a new 27th or 28th Amendment to the Constitution. Because the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution says treaties are the law of the land and cannot be overriden by acts of Congress or acts of the state legislatures.

For those of us who value the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, this is absolutely pivotal .. they changed the venue but it is the same fight.

Every politician, including those elected and appointed Secretaries of State and UN reps, takes an oath to support and defend the US constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic (just like we did for the military).  Any of them who vote or support an abandonment of US National Sovereignty (guaranteed by the US Constit) by delegation of such power to the Socialist UN (or any other foreign agency) (either the 2d amendment or any other of the bill of rights, which are all personal to the People of the US), is guilty of treason, and should be stood against a wall and shot dead (after a pro forma trial).

I doubt any action on this would be taken until after the Nov elections....... just another very important reason to vote the Bastard out.

While treaties ratified by the Senate are supposedly on a par with the US constitution, I think this would have a hard time passing even the current Senate (even the Dems would like to be reelected, and a few support the 2d amendment), and even if passed, I think a showdown before the current SCOTUS would show the 2d amendment to trump a UN treaty (by a lousy 5-4).  Specifically, any part of the UN treaty not inconsistent with the US Const would be considered a valid/enforceable treaty, but no provision of the treaty could be used to simply invalidate the essential guarantees of the 2d amendment. (Repealing an amendment has very specific and difficult requirements; only ever done once.

Better yet and much simpler is... our UN rep votes against it, and we are not a signatory.  KMA!

But if they want a war, let it begin here!!  That's what the 2d Amendment is all about, not hunting.  I took the oath in '84, and it still means something to me.

Any national licensing and registration of firearms legislation would be the beginning of the end of the 2d amendment.  Just like in many, many countries around the world.

What I think will happen is that the Senate will vote it down. Then, Obama will try to make it the law of the land by "presidential decree". What happens after that is anyone's guess.

You can bet Zero will not ever mention or act in any way on this until after the elections, IF......    (which was always the plan)

presidential orders aren't law (thank goodness) they are just pieces of paper that the next pres can toss in the circular file.

The single most important thing to remember is that the UN is like a rapist with profound ED. They have no power over us so we can just laugh at their little cashew nut when they whip it out and try to "enforce" it. The UN can go and f**k itself.

Anvil, you are forgetting one important fact. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama want this law. If they sign it it will be law. Let the revolution begin against the government. crazy2

http://www.infowars.com/soros-promotes-un-control-over-gun-ownership/

"he blog post assures citizens concerned about the potential eradication of the rights guaranteed in the Second Amendment to the Constitution that they have nothing to fear from the UN’s gun control treaty."

this means we DO have something to worry about.
some laws/policies of the US of the last 2 decades that have been implemented are part of the UN agenda including the lies of global warming, carbon credits, all being used to contol the world, etc.

more and disturbing......

In order to avoid being labeled a “human rights abuser,” the United States (along with all member states) is ordered by the UN to comply with the ATT. To compel this compliance, the ATT empowers the UN to force Congress to:

• Enact internationally agreed licensing requirements for Americans

• Confiscate and destroy unauthorized firearms of Americans while allowing the U.S. government to keep theirs

• Ban the trade, sale, and private ownership of semi-automatic guns

• Create and mandate an international registry to organize an encompassing gun confiscation in America

On this point, in 2011, the UN’s General Assembly declared “that disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation are essential.” In other words, if world peace, the protection of human rights, and the disarming of violent regimes could be achieved through the confiscation of personal firearms, then so be it.

Make no mistake, however, Soros and his fellow globalist gun controllers don’t have in mind (at least at first) to march blue-helmeted UN soldiers into the homes of Americans with orders to seize their guns and ammunition. Rather, through the passage of binding international treaties and UN resolutions, they will force the national governments of the world to do the dirty work for them.

Let me clarify; this is only something to worry about if we let it be. The UN has no authority over us that we (the people, not the POTUS or SOS) do not give them willingly.

I repeat; the UN can go and f**k itself.

maybe we should tell them to go to switzerland and kick them off our soil.  tickedoff
