 uglystupid2

House Republicans are bringing up vote on bill to repeal healthcare law today.  This has ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE in passing in the Senate and is nothing but partisan politics.  This is the 33rd time the bill has been introduced.  What a f..ing waste of time.  Can't our Congressmen do something productive instead of this wasted time and energy with us paying the bill??  tickedoff tickedoff

Yes.....They could ALL vote to repeal the law....That would be nonpartisan......Then maybe they could move on to other things.

And the Dummycrats have NEVER passed a bill in one house that has no chance of passing the other?

At least the Repubs have the balls to pass something.  All Dingy Harry does in the Senate is refuse to vote on anything!

Just today, Dingy Harry stopped votes from occurring on BOTH Obamas tax proposal, which did not have enough votes to pass, and the repub tax proposal, which did!!!

I don't have any big dog in this fight but it irritates me to see either party wasting time like this.  i also think a lot of the Congressional investigations are a similar waste of time and having someone like Colbert testify is probably one of those wastes.

"it figures that you'd complain about politicians KEEPING a campaign promise"  don't really know what that means.  I never saw where any congressman promised to keep wasting time bringing up and voting on a bill that they knew was not going to pass and then doing it 32 more times.  if they promised to work on repealing the Healthcare Law then work on doing that, not wasting time on a senseless effort such as this vote.

This is the single biggest issue on the G's plate (maybe the public's too), along with jobs and economy, and clearly joined at the knee to that, given it is a huge tax bill.

Passing a vote to repeal sends a clear message to each Rep's constituents that he is fighting for them, and gets press to keep it in the fore, for the coming election.  Constituents immediately send contributions to those voting to repeal.

This may well be the pivotal issue in the coming election.  Drawing a clear line in the sand on the issue is not a bad idea.  Voting it down (to repeal) in the House is also not a bad idea, under these circumstances.  Yes, it will not even get a vote in the Senate.  That will also be noted by the electorate.

While Colbert is a comedian and makes light of most political topics on his show, his testimony (most of it at least) was quite serious and sincere regarding the issues and conditions being faced by undocumented workers/illegal immigrants in the farming industry.  It wasn't a total waste and I don't know why his being a comedian automatically would lessen the value of his input on a topic that he knew something about.  His show had done a few segments on the topic with him even going out and working with them, which is why he was invited.  Lots of celebs use their influence to shine light on and bring attention to such things.

sure thing  Roll Eyes many young people consider his show the "news"

I'm pretty sure it was his delivery that made it a circus.

you got me! there is a legitimate political reason that this repeal keeps getting voted on in the house.  ready?,.... are you really ready?

they are doing this in an attempt to keep the topic front and center of the nonpolitical voters miserably short attention span. I'm pretty sure I haven't heard or seen any ads from the Obama campaign touting the greatness of this law.
so there you have it a confession that this is a cheap political ploy.
BTW plenty of representatives were elected expressly promising to repeal that TAX.

Did you see the testimony?  It wasn't the circus Fox News made it out to be. And I'm pretty sure that his target audience...primarily 20-somethings...know that his show isn't actually "news".  The funny part is I've seen elected representatives actually refer to him as a "conservative" while his comedy actually pokes fun at them.

Problem is that many forget where one of the main examples the Obama care law was based on....

The Massachusetts Health Care Reform of 2006......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts_health_care_reform

given to you by........

Mitt Romney!

"In 2007 Massachusetts tax filers who failed to enroll in a health insurance plan which was deemed affordable for them lost the $219 personal exemption on their income tax. Beginning in 2008, the penalty became pegged to 50% of the lowest monthly premium for insurance available from the Connector Authority."

Now he doesn't support his own idea??????

How do you tell a Romney supporter from an Obama supporter?

Romney supporters sign their checks on the front; Obama supporters sign them on the back.

I'd rather see them doing stuff like this than trying to figure out more ways to spend money we don't have or to regulate businesses more than they already do.  I also think the more time they spend away from DC the better.  We need term limits.  The founding fathers never envisioned career politicians.  You go, you serve your term, you go home.  No reelections, no campaigning, no stealing as much as you can carry, no lobbying afterwards, get out of town by dark and don't ever come back.

4 years for president
4 years for senators (appointed by the state legislature)
6 years for congressmen voted by the people

No retirement benefits.  Get in, do what you said you'd do and then GO HOME!
