I didn't even think about it at the time but to date there has been 2 attempts to repeal the law IN IT'S ENTIRETY. how ever there have been 31 other bills that have touched on parts of the law and that's what they are trying to claim. (remember the part about the 1099 needed to be submitted for every sale over $600? thankfully that went away)

research not regurgitate.

I know, I've done it too. posted stuff that sounds real enough but it turned out to be twaddle.

Waste of time, 33 times, unless you count introducing and voting on legislation that is doomed as a benefit for your constituents.

Obama just gave a campaign speech here in Roanoke, VA the number that he used on this subject was 33 as well.

Maybe he should research his facts a little better as well.  Evil

So... Let's say that Brown vs. Board of Education had gone the other way...

...with a Democrat controlled senate, and a Democrat president. (Hypothetically)

Would it have been pointless for the Republicans to keep passing laws in the Republican controlled house to implement desegregation, or should they have just given up and accepted that that's that and get over it?

Serk.  I always like your posts, but WTF.  Brown v. Board of education has nothing to do with this.

Bringing senseless legislation to the floor is waste of all our time and money.  try to decrease it!

My point is that if something is so incredibly repugnant to you on multiple levels, does it matter if you're "wasting your time" by repeatedly trying to remove it? To me, it doesn't matter, you keep doing anything you can to remove it via any avenue available, and keep doing so until it's either been removed or at least crippled so it can cause as little harm as possible. That was my tie in to Brown V. Board of Education, you can replace that with any law/practice/whatever that is the height of "badness" and must be stopped. Even if you're doomed to defeat, you don't stop fighting to get rid of it.

Some people think banging your head against a brick wall over and over is productive.  Others think that they can pursue more effective ways to resolve conflict.

It has EVERYTHING to do with it.  Civil rights legislation went down to defeat after defeat, until it finally passed with Repubs giving Lyndon Johnson the votes to get it passes.

Serk's point, should they have "given up" on The Civil Rights Act?

I heard a great comment this morning concerning the Affordable Care Act.  Now that it has been defined by the SCOTUS as a tax, the argument could be it's an illegal tax because tax legislation starts in the House of Representatives not the Senate.  This was a Senate Bill that used reconcilliation to get it passes.

So yes, it may be pointless to some, but given this fact why shouldn't the House of Representatives vote to Repeal a illegal Tax.  That is their job?
