Looks like he was an interesting guy.  His Obit written in the first person.  Seems he probably left out the end date and it was inserted by Mary Jane.

Seems like he surely made the dash between DOB and DOD count for something

The Biggest lesson IMHO  STOP SMOKING PLEASE

Not for yourself but the ones you leave behind someday

Not everyone is lucky like my great grandfather smoking packs a day unfiltered and passing away of lung cancer at 92

Thanks for the post

I've thought of writing my own obit, but my daughter would kill me if I did.

For some damn stupid reason she adores her daddy.

From age 6 to 23, she rode about 15,000 miles a year with me.   That is like 255K in a backseat of a motor.    In the past 20 years, she has put about 35K on the Chevy Trike.    So, yes, she is a motor head.

I fell in Wisconsin one time and broke my arm, when I was on a trip with the Chevy, mom flew here to whatever town I was in, memory fart here on the name, and she drove me home like I was a King or something.   Bless her little soul anyway.      Yupper, daddy loves her to death do we part.    Love her 2 daughters also.   They will be motor heads also, they like to ride the Chevy.

Not to sound like a broken record, but if you smoke, please try to quit.  if not for you, but for the others close to you.

Just went to a funeral for my uncle's wife smoked 2-3 cartons a week died due to smoking at age 71 otherwise in o.k. shape.  I also have an uncle and aunt in mid 60's both smoked heavily all their lives on oxygen right now and within 1-2 years, if that long, will also die due to smoking.
Going to be a tougher go for my mom, oldest of 10 kids at age 69, once my aunt dies since she visits my mom weekly in same small town and gives her rides to go get food and the mail since my mom never has had a drivers license ever.

Smoking robs the ones you love. Ask my Mom.
Thats funny about the PhD. "Piled higher deeper".

Interesting all the post knocking PHDs, sounds kind of like someone mentioned HD  cooldude. In all reality it is very hard and very time consuming to earn a PHD. Much like anything else people will tell stories about stupid PHDs when in fact most of them are very intelligent in their particular field. Kind of the climate in the US today...education is not really valued as it should be. Beware countries like China and India not only are out producing us in goods, they are out educating us also.

Great guy!  angel

I will miss him...  when he stole the safe from the Motor View Drive Inn back in June, 1971... I was the get away rider
on my '70 Valkyrie with a trailer ??? Evil

STOP SMOKING:
There is not much worse than having a "recovering smoker"  telling you to quit! tickedoff  So, I'll just tell you 'bout my experience:

After 30 years, on 23 June 2003 I quit smoking "cold turkey." I crave it everyday so, I drink a glass of room temperature water... at every turn,
even if I am not thirsty.  Roll Eyes It takes away all your craves, including the munchies (sometimes!) angel

If you drink 1/2 gallon of room temperature water through the day for two weeks, you'll find yourself craving water, instead of sweetened drinks.  Smiley

Since I began the "water drill," I have also quit coffee.

All in all, room temperature water has made for a huge / positive improvement in my metabolism.  Wink

Great obituary. Lips Sealed
