Im going to purchace a new solinoid for my IS,, Honda wants around 100 bucks for it,Honda Direct want 70 bucks for it and when i went to Ebay I was seeing aftermarket starter solinoids for Valkyries for between 23 and 30 or so well the cheep SOB in meay get it on EBAY ,My question is have any of you gents purchaced a solinoid on EBAy and if so were you pleased with it, did it perform well,, My buget is fairly tight as Im on lay off and wanna fix my IS as prudently as possible but dont wanna buy sub quality stuff either ,and Thanks guys for all the responces to all my recent posts about this stuff, you guys are great and its all been very helpful,thanks again ,Mal

Ah, I think there may be a wording problem here. I don't think the Valk has a solinoid.
It does have a starter relay. And other Honda bike use the same relay, the VT1100 for one, I sold my IS relay to a fellow ACE Tourer forum member.
I don 't think I've hear dof too many of these going bad. But I do of the wires melting. Sure you need another relay?

i have had a aftermarket selinoid sence 07 and this is the way i wired it in
and i havent had a bit of problems with it

You will just have the same problems eventually if you get the one from eBay. Your start relay/solenoid is probably ok, just needs a little work and about $6 worth of parts.
