Some of you will remember my bud Jim from one of the Covered Bridge Rides. He rode the 1200 Sportster with the old-school sissy bar and flame paint job. He and his wife have friends (Steve and Lisa) in Arkansas whom I've met and rode with.

Jim told me today the shooting at a plant in Arkansas was at the plant Steve works at. Steve heard people screaming and heard shots. He ran out to his truck, grabbed his 45 and confronted an armed women who had just killed their co-worker. He held her at gunpoint and ordered her to drop her weapon which she put into the just arriving plant managers hand.

Arguably Steve prevented other people from being killed but the news doesn't seem to be reporting it and Steve has lost his job for taking a weapon into the plant.

I can understand him losing his job, I'm sure he knew he probably would and rightfully felt saving lives was more important.

What I don't get is I can't find anything about Steve in any of the news stories. Jim said he found an interview with him somewhere on the net but I can't even find that now. Steve seemed like a good guy to me, I can't beleive he would be making this up. Is the news just refusing to report something good a gun-owner did or am I missing it?

I've only heard this 2'nd hand, it's entirely possible it's gotten blown out of proportion slightly as tends to happen as news is passed from person to person. If anybody sees anything about it that includes mention of this please post it.

Thanks,
Mike

PINE BLUFF, AR - Tense moments outside Central Moloney as family members of LaTange Long learn that a co-worker shot and killed her at work.

Pine Bluff Police had to subdue the victim's brother to calm him down.

"He wanted answers,” Long’s sister-in-law Jacqui Mateo said. “He wanted to know how somebody could just walk in there and shoot at his sister."

Police say Lillie Wilson shot Long inside the building, right in front of fellow coworkers.

"I was sitting at my desk,” Witness Steven Strange said. “I heard 3 crashes."

Strange heard the shots and ran like so many others. But he went back in.

"I ran to my truck, got my .45. I drew my .45 and said, ‘You raise that gun, you're dead.’"

He says she listened.

"She raised it up and handed it over to the plant manager. He took it,” Strange said. “Police came and took care of her I guess."

Strange says Wilson told them all she shot the person she aimed for. There, he saw a lifeless co-worker, whom he'd known for years.

"You don't know what to do or say when something like that happens," Strange said.

Strange is glad he didn't have to use gun, and he doesn't apologize for going to get it.

"I don't want to get caught in the middle of a gun fight,” Strange said. “I don't want to go out that way."

Thank God for people like Steve.

Just goes to show still a few good people in this world that are not just out for themselves.

Hope he gets his job back.

Damn the media for not following this story.

Your buddy did right.  Probably unnecessary, but what if the crazy beotch wanted to use all her bullets?

Hope he gets his job back......... if it's one of those zero tolerance deals (socialist PC replacement for individual good judgement), he's probably SOL.

I was told they have an ban on firearms being brought into the plant. I'm hoping they get some attention and it changes their mind.

Hey Mike;

Have you heard if Steve Strange lost his job?

He told my bud Jim that they made it official today, he is terminated. He also said the women had reloaded the revolver and had just reached the Production Managers office when he confronted her. He told her if she raised that weapon she would die. After Steve had it under control the production manager opened the window and she handed him the gun.

Looks like that company puts more importance on being politically correct than they do on their employees lives. Sad

I'm still not seeing any national news coverage either. Not even from Fox. If he had dropped his gun and shot himself in the ass it would be front page everywhere!!!!! What a crock.

Thanks for finding that contact info. Below is the letter I just sent them.

To whom it man concern,

I'm honored to call your former employee Steve a friend. Even more so now that I know he did the responsible thing and used his firearm to disarm a murderer in your plant. A murderer who was holding a loaded gun, still warm from killing her co-worker.

Steve is a Hero in my book and I'm sure most Americans will agree with me. Is it true you have fired him for the brave act of probably saving your production managers life?

Do you value being politically correct more than you value your employees lives? Do you really think defenseless employees cowering in fear while more people were killed would have been the prefered outcome?

What kind of Americans are you?

Just got a call. Fox 16 showed up at the door of Steve's plant this afternoon asking to interview the person who fired Steve.

Then management called Steve and told him perhaps they had been a little hasty and gave him his job back. He said to tell everyone thanks!

And thanks from me too, it's good when the "good guys" win.  cooldude Really, really appreciate it.

Man, I have to wonder how often someone stands up like he did and we never even know about it.

If the Company flip flop is due, in whole or in part, to positive actions of VRCC members and other good Americans in contacting them about their decision to fire this man, this is great news indeed.

Could it be that common sense actually prevailed?  Having rescinded his termination of employment, wouldn't it be amazing if they actually thanked and honored him for risking his life for the company and it's employees?

He could have gotten in his car, and just driven home.

Amazing how a black 4-year-old gets killed by black gang members and there's 4 or 5 minutes of it during the news.  I wonder how much time the story would get if the gang member was white?  Nobama's ex-right hand man says gang members in Chicago are bad because they stand near innocent citizens who just happen to get caught in the crossfire.  They really shouldn't do that.   Innocent people get killed, and his reply is that gang members shouldn't stand next to them.
