Just received the latest Rider Mag yesterday and .... ooo-weeee .... did rider strike a sour note with some people out there on that totally biased article they wrote on running car tires on a motorcycle.

There were a few responses in the magazine, the rest are here ...

What a surprise. Many agree. Many disagree.

I'll just keep zipping along with my Hankook on the rear of my ST1300

It's just idiotic that the author (and those responding against car tires picked up too) lists the only reason that we use car tires on our cycles is because they're cheaper. No mention if the other benefits. Oh well, the darkside works for me.

Oh well, to each his own..though I believe there are many, many people out there who have their head stuffed deeply up their backside, I feel that the article is way out of line with little to NO factual information included. As a double darksider myself, I am happy with my choice and the 18000 miles I currently have on the CT I use and the performance in the rain and occasional snow storm I have ridden in.

I am not darkside, but I can't imagine writing that article with out riding the subject of the article.  Was he scared to ride it?  Methinks it had more to do with the oodles of advertising for tires in the magazine, not that there's anything wrong with that.  Gotta pay the bills, I guess.   I rode several just to decide if I wanted to go that way.  I didn't, mainly because I found MC tires that last me 20k miles, which was my reason to consider it in the first place.   As I have said before, to each his own.  Hoser   Smiley

Here in metro Detroit we have several GWRRA Chapters. GWRRA Chapter H has now banned any member using a CT from riding with the group, and if they don't comply after the first written warning, then they are banned from any and all chapter activities and functions.

Are you serious? That GWRRA chapter must have their nose so far up in the air that they will probably drown if it rains!

Good article.

I'll keep zipping along on my motorcycle specific tire.

Or can they.

But on the other hand they are getting a obsolete motor to pass EPA Regs. and making a lot of AMericans Happy.

And wealthy. Engineers may be pretty smart.

They tried that.  It's called the V-Rod.

The big Harley fans hated it and it didn't sell.

Harley stays with air cooling for reasons of their fan base.  Their engineers have nothing to do with it.
