I need some help with the length and size of the Interstate muffler versus the Tourer and Standard models . It is my understanding that the Interstate muffler and tail pipe is longer in total length than the Standard model , but is it also longer than the Tourer model ? I have also been told that the Interstate muffler is bigger around than the others . Is there any truth to this ? Would the tips off of a Tourer work on a Interstate ?

Thanks, Dan

I have never measured them to see but I'd say that all 3 models have the same lenght muffler.

Only difference I know in them is the piggies are straight in the Std & Tourer, but the I/S has a kink in theirs.   Tips on either will work, You might have to cut a little of the piggie off for the Std or Tourer tip to work, not sure.......

They are all interchangeable, the Std and Tour all year models are the same, the I/S is the same forward of the piggies and tips.  Piggies on I/S are longer and the tips are horizontal instead of vertical like the rest.

According to the fiche at http://www.hdlparts.com/, the Standard and Tourer Mufflers are the same part numbers.  The Interstate is different - but probably only the piggies AND the mounting point for the Tip.  The Standard / Tourer piggies are vertical and the Interstate's are horizontal.  The Muffler Covers are the same part number for all, so the muffler must be the same length and diameter.    I tried to put IS tips on my Standard's exhaust and the screws are in different positions.  The IS tips are 3 inches longer than the Standard / Tourer.

The rear mounting bolt on the IS exhaust tips are further to the rear than on the Standard and Tourer. The other two bolts are in the same place. The triple tips for example which are intended for the  Standard of Tourer will work on the IS with only two bolts mounting each (piggies need to be shortened)
