Sanitize the boot

I just completed checking the splines on the shaft and the u-joint. All checked out OK and went fairly well. BUT trying to put the boot back on was a big pain in the a$$. Rubbing alcohol was suggested as a lubricant because it would evaporate after installation. After struggling with that and reapplying the alcohol a number of times I saw the hand sanitizer on the shelf. Being alcohol based but in a gel form I tried that. Lasted a lot longer and was a great lubricant.
Even with my small hands that part of the job was the most frustrating. Having arthritis issues I crippled myself working on the boot. I hope you have better luck putting your boot on. Just sanitize it first.

I always wait until the bike is back on the sidestand before putting the boot back on the swingarm side. It puts it back at the right angle and gives me more room to get my hands and pliers in there. Works for me.

Trying to get the boot on while on the side stand lets me get at the bottom better but it's too low and I "broke" my back so I put it on the lift to get it higher. Of course then the lift adapter is blocking the access to the bottom and the lift prevents me from getting closer.
I tried rolling it back (like a condom) and that helped.
Between the sanitizing, lubricating and the condom reference I think I may have been "trucked".

Just went through this last week. Fought it for two hours one night; WD-40, alcohol, swing-arm up, swing-arm down. Sounded like I had Tourette's - had to walk away before I kicked the bike off the jack.
Next day, rolled it back on itself, sprayed a tad of WD-40 and mushed it against the swing-arm. Unrolled right on to the lip... 15 seconds!
When it wants to go on, it will go on (pretty "Zen" huh?)
