After owning the valk for 5 weeks, I have noticed a cicada (locust) type sound coming from the front end that I couldn't locate.  This weekend I finished up my fork rebuild and when I went to reinstall the fender I noticed that some fabric/rubber mat on the inside of the fender was loose.  Not knowing (or caring) what it was for, I just cut out the loose material and went on my merry way.

Well during the test ride I didn't hear that noise anymore.  That material had been flapping in the breeze causing the sound like pinning a playing card on a back stay tube on a bicycle that hits the spokes!

Just thought I'd share.  By the way, just what was that material under the fender for?

Ironically, it's sound deadening. coolsmiley

primarily noise reduction but they also help protect the inner fender should you run over and pick up a big rock, etc.

That mat is acne medicine.  It helps prevent "pimples" on your fender.
