Got this from Orbitz (travel biz must be slow) to sign a petition so's you can travel to Cuba as a U.S. citizen, lifting the 50 yr old ban. Only if I can bring back some cigars! http://www.opencuba.org/

Hey, Doc, Navigator and I went to Cuba in 2003 on a cultural exchange with the University of Wisconsin. We learned alot.
BTW, even then we were allowed to bring back a limited number of cigars.

Really? Musta been cuz of the "cultural exchange" thing. Still, I thought it was illegal to bring back cigars. Cool!

You have to enter Cuba by way of Mexico or any country , not straight from the states

A young engineering student worked at the plant I was at a couple of years ago as a summer student. His girlfriend had a Cuban mother and Russian father, she was a student at the same university here in Canada. When the summer was done and before going back to school they took a trip to Cuba. When they arrived there the Cubans wouldn't let her in and she was put back on the same plane which was returning to Canada that afternoon. His trip to Cuba consisted of a walk around the airport and buying some cigars in the duty free then he came back with her. I don't know why he didn't stay, they broke up the next week.

Every scuba diver I know that lives outside the US has been to CUBA. Some of the best diving they have been on. What are we really accomplishing at this point? No one else in the world is joining us in embargos.

So much so in fact that they are tearing down old 1950s hotels and resturants to throw up more 'american friendly' travel destinations. So by the time we're allowed to go to Cuba it will look like any other travel destination and less like Cuba.
I've always wanted to go there. I had a great uncle that lived in Miami and he'd go back and forth regularly in the fishing boat. Always seemed like a good thing to do. I wouldn't want to fly. I'd rather rent a fishing boat and a guide that knows how in Key West and head down that way.
