I finished all of my honey-do's and hung the lights yesterday so I went for a ride today.  My goal was Wendy's Catfish using back roads but a text from The Mist that she needed a pickup in Fort Worth cut the trip just a tad short; I made it as far as the northern side of the one lane bridge into OK before I turned around.

Yum!  But I didn't see much color other than these trees

The bridge

Lousy money shot

The sun was bright overhead making for poor pictures

Thanks!  I am highly critical of my own pics and my Valk is out of focus in the money shot.  I was doing loops allowing cars to pass between shots and I was in a hurry to head home so I only took a couple of this "pose".  I plan on going back for a keeper plus I passed a field with quite a few predator birds, I coumted five hawks at one time in the air, so I'd like to go back with my telephoto and try to get pics of them also.

I didn't notice the bike out of focus the first time around. You are really getting good with that camera.... and since you pointed it out... the bike is out of focus... that pic sucks!

I'm my biggest critic...

Actually that wasn't "that" camera; I bought a high-end point~n~shoot because sometimes I don't want to haul a huge camera around AND I have some awesome tickets to see Rush in concert and I cannot take camerazilla into the AA center.  These pics were the first ones I took with it.

I stand corrected, I thought I was my biggest critic   Grin

Nice pics!  Too bad about the "money shot".  That focus thingy can jump up and bite you in the a$$ more often than not!

I know you are a Cannon guy, so out of curiosity, what point and shoot did you get?  I've been contemplating a smaller camera now that some manufacturers are coming out with large censors and even interchangeable lenses on their point and shoot cameras.

I believe it is a digital SLR, but not sure of which one.

I am in the market for a D SLR in the $6-700 range.  Cannon or Nikon?
Probably like a tire/oil thread...

Nevermind, I will start a new thread....  sorry about the HIJACK!

I did a lot of research and was leaning towards the Sony RX100 due to a huge image sensor but the price tag is intimidating for a point-n-shoot.  I considered the Nikon 1 due to the interchangeable lens system until I realized that would be like starting over; besides the fact that it wasn't very pocketable with a lens attached.
I bought the Canon G15; mostly due to the bright 1.8 - 2.8 lens and advanced IS accounting for four F-stops, making it an good choice for distant and low-light photography.  A plus is the menu is almost identical to my T2i and 7D, minus a few adjustments.  I also liked the fact that IS works with video and I can zoom and focus during video recording.  So far I am impressed with its performance; it will fit in a pocket but does display an impressive bulge.   Evil

Jimmy, I've been a Canon guy since the 70's and I am biased.  If you are starting from scratch the Sony RX100 is $650 - $700 depending on your willingness to shop and it is the favorite on most of the popular camera comparison sites, just barely beating out the Canon G15.  Again, I went with the Canon due to familiarity and low-light performance, your needs may be different.  Nikon makes some very nice camera's and I would buy many of them if I didn't have a couple of camera bags full of Canon gear already.  I've spent the last couple of weeks researching p-n-s camera's so if you tell what your needs are I can send you to some sites that you can read to edumakate(sp) yourself.

This is one of my favorite comparison sites
