I've been trying to find what the official name is for the front chrome covers that mount to the bottom front of the hard bags are called. I have a set i would like to remove and wonder how these can be taken off without damaging the paint. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Here is the parts breakout of the Tourer Saddlebags...

http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/Motorcycle/MakeID/1/Make/Honda/YearID/40/Year/1999/ModelID/4617/Model/GL1500CT/GroupID/142564/Group/SADDLEBAG

and for the Interstate Saddlebags...

Do you see the part there?  If not...can you post a picture of it?

If you're talking about the chrome kick panels that go on the front of the hardbags......the "official" (at least according to my "Honda Genuine Accessories Valkyrie" catalog) name is......

Chrome Saddlebag Scuff Covers

Part number:  6102008

Originally priced at:  $99.00

Thanks Joe! I don't see it in your diagram. It's like a chrome rock guard that sticks to the front of the bag with two way tape or something.

Thanks BF! That would be it. Do you know how to take them off without damaging paint?

If it is held on with double sided tape...use fishing line or dental floss to cut the parts off...and then useWD-40 or Goo Gone to remove the residue.

Thanks guys! They will be for sale if i get them off without damaging them. I could use the extra cash. I haven't seen any sell in quite a while to determine a price yet.

Fishing line or dental floss would be my guess, but....that's just a guess.  I really have no clue how to get them off.

However, like most all Valk stuff these days, I'd imagine that they'll fetch way more than the original list price.   cooldude

warm with blow drier then cut loose with fishing line. expect between $200 and $350 on ebay, of course this is depending on the outside temp in mexico city times the humidity in Tabor city north Carolina minus the time of day in Basrah Iraq.
