Picked up a project bike Wednesday in Tyler, there was still snow on the ground in areas but it was not unbearably cold. This is an 03 Standard with approximately 70K miles per the odometer. The engine seized up (probably because he ran it low on oil, and got to hot, my observation), it is very unkept, missing right side cover, tach, etc, etc.

And it's a darksider, guess my mind has been made up for me by someone else. These pics do it a lot of justice given the overall condition of the bike, it's going to require more than a little TLC. I'm starting my search for another engine.

The kick stand and headlight seem to be in good shape.

I don't know how far you are going with this project, but I will have extra parts left over from my project bike. I'll cut you a deal on some parts.

Tires look pretty good too! Wink

FYI, I'm green with envy!  But, I can only dream about a project bike for now. Sad

Good luck and hope to see occasional progress reports!  cooldude

It's going to take some time, but I will work to get it back, my plate is full right now. I did get the engine to turn over with Marvel Mystery Oil, but it would not start. The cylinders are badly scored and making a terrible scraping noise. All the lights work with the exception of the foot brake switch, that may take an adjustment of the switch. Thank goodness the tank only has that one dent in it and seems clean inside, everything else will require a complete repaint along with replacing a lot of nuts and bolts. Wish me luck.
