What do you guys/gals use to clean your wheels? While I've got everything torn down I want to clean them up good. I must admit for selfish reasons. I'm headed to the office in Louisiana for a class on Monday. This will be my first ride over since I got the phat lady. Three of the instructors have Harleys and give me grief about my GoldWing. Now I'm gonna show up and show them up!

If your wheels are clear coated, then just use soap and water with a soft cloth or a special "Mag Wheel Brush". You mentioned a GoldWing, but if your refering to a Valkyrie, only the 2001-2003 have clear coated wheels. !997-2000 Valkyries do not have clear coat and are subject to corrosion, and with out proper maintainence, they get "real ugly....real fast".

OK...I was under the misconception that my Valk had clear coated wheels. Since that is not the case any good wheel cleaner should do? Thanks!

Nothing says you DON"T have the clearcoated wheels. They are interchangable, so look them over before applying any stuff that would damage the clearcoat. You should be able to tell the difference. The rim and some of the wheel will be shiney, and the center, near the hub is not. Hope this helps

Just to cover all bases I got some of Griot's Wheel Cleaner. Supposed to be safe on all wheel types.

I used a Mother's mini powerball for polishing. With some work, they can look almost like chrome.

What wax/compound/cleaner would you use with the mini-powerball?

What wax/compound/cleaner would you use with the mini-powerball? I use Meguires mag and aluminum polish and follow it up with Mothers Billett polish. I did my fork lowers starting with 800 grit (wet) then 1000 and 1500 before the powerball polishes.
