needing to replace front tire on 2000 is - have about 195,000 miles now - and last three or four replacements have been the Kenda K671 Cruiser ST Tire Rear 150/70-17.  but, i'm only getting about 11,000 miles or so.  even though i get the tire shipped to me for a little over $80, i'm wondering if it's worth it.  what kind of mileage and price do the rest of you pay?

My current front tire is a D404 130/90-17 bias rear, $123.95 delivered. Has over 21K miles and some life left. Installed in normal direction, 40 PSI and Dyna beads for balance. Pic is at 17K miles.

after a search and your suggestion - here's what i came up with: ordered the  D404 130/90-17 from rockymountainmc.com for $99.97 (had to add 2 $5 balaclava's to get 'free' shipping).  drew some conclusions of my own from all the posts on front tire wear and use.  tire pressure, heat, when tire was manufactured (numbers on tire show week of year), and  riding style - pretty much in that order - seem to dictate how long the tire will last.     anyway, after 15 or so front tires - 5 or 6 different makes - i am anxious to see if i can actually get 20k or so with this one.  hope so.  rear tire is a car tire and i am about to get my third douglas performance tire from wal mart - honest - for $80 or so.  last two have both given me over 27k and i probably could have taken them to 30+.  sidewall flexes nice and it gives the best feel of anything else i've tried. regarding the tire direction issue:  really can't see or feel any difference in which direction it is mounted. ride safe and have fun.

Sounds about right. I got my D404 from JC Whitney for 98 bucks delivered to my front door. I love this tire !! It seems to grip like glue wet or dry.

Douglas Performance, eh? Walmart uses a local tire retailer for tires, but I will check. I have a Falken Ziex ZE-512 205/65R-16 on my bike and like it a lot. Also at 17K miles last summer...

Here is the combination I've been using. The front is a D404 (Bias) front tire 150/80/17. My 4th front getting 13K to 19K. I've changed one out early before a cross country trip not wanting to mess with it on the road. The rear has been GYTT that works great with my solo set-up.

honestly, i consider the goodyear the best looking of all the car tire choices.  it was the most costly car tire i've ever put on.  just going by memory, ive had toyo prexis and yokohama and one other choice, but the two douglas performance tires from walmart have been the least expensive and best performance of them all for me.  looking forward to the d404 and better mileage on the front.
