Be easier to read if the "period" key worked on your keyboard. Other than that....your bike, your money. Be interesting to see how it all turns out for you if you do follow through on it.

Hey rocketray, are they saying they picked up 17 hp with just cams and tuning? Thats a lot and if they can duplicate it i'll have my bike up there for some work soon. Also there is a dude close to you in oklahoma, attic rat that i've heard works wonders on valkyries. He's on this board occasionally. I was planning to contact him and try to get my valk to out to OK for some work a little far for me tho.

You can play with the cams all you want but I don't know anyone that had any luck with the cams. One reason is that the pistoin to valve clearance is so clsoe that you couldn't put much lift into the cam and they needed more compression to make the cams work properly

If you are looking for more hp then the attic rat is the one to deal with. You can play with air box mods, diffrent cams and everything else you have read about. The best bang for your buck is the performance work that attic rat does. PM him and he can tell you all about it cooldude

Im with Bob (attic rat) on this one, dont mess with the cams,no room for lift.I had bob put his package on my bike about a year ago and Im pleased with the turnout. It eliminated the famous valkyrie flat spot, runs real strong, runs much easier at highway speeds, and to top it all off, better fuel economy.I have friends who went up in jets with no improvement.None of the after market exhaust will do any good by themselves.Give Bob a call, talk to him ,it makes sense

Attic Rat did his stuff to my bike a little over a year ago and I agree with everything Russell and Wayne said.  I called him up an spent several hours talking to him on the phone before I let him work on my bike, so I had a good understanding of what he does and, more importantly, why. His system is well thought out proven and, in my opinion, you cannot get better bang for your buck.

Rocketray, I understand your wanting to put a little or alot more pep in your Valkyrie's step.  What you want is a tried and proven procedure to get there.  I saw that someone referenced the work that attic rat does.  I took my bike to him from North Carolina and then rode it back home.  That was a very interesting ride.  I also had him put a real cruise control on the bike.  I was pleasantly surprised to hear a more potent and crisp snap in the engine. Then I rode it.  It was like I was on a different bike.  The throttle response was something I had not ever felt before.  Getting to highway speeds was literally effortless and quick.  The trip back home through the mountains was completely different than any previous mountain ride.  The power on the hills in 5th gear was awesome.  The cruise held the speed to 1-2 mph of the set speed even on the steep hills.  Give him a shot and you won't be dissappointed.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the increase in gas mileage.  Even through the mountains the bike got over 32 mpg.

thanx for everyones input.  Per the posted archive the viking header got 106 hp-all I got when I bought mine used were the needles and no jets so I may not have that 106.  The attic rat uses the stock exhaust in his package for 108 hp with porting polishing /head milling/ piston cutting/ rejetting/airbox mod      B.R.G racing with their spec sheet started with a 90 hp valkyrie stock and got to 107 with the degree'd WEB  cam and airbox and jetting mods .   I asked the attic rat about a cam increase with  the head work he did and milling and he ....god bless his patience.....and he said it wouldnt work...there just isnt enough piston clearance......since I already have roughly the same power his package has 106 vs 108 - I think to get more power I guess some port and polish from him and then the  B.R.G degree'd motor with or without a WEB cam.....or maybe the attic rat can tell us if a degree'd cam is a good thing and if he can do that too    I really like the viking headers and want to keep them but man, retting 6 carbs 5X doing dyno runs $$$   but would i get from 106 hp plus the 17 from B.R.G. package for 123 hp?

Ray I could do my performance work on your bike with your exhaust and we could increase your piston to valve clearance if you think that you may want to install the web cams at a later date. Not a big deal. I would suggest that if we do our work that you ride your bike for awhile and then if you want more install the cams. To install the cams is not a big deal and if you don't like the cams you only waste the 670.00 for the cams. However the cams will work better after I rasie the compression. The choice is up to you

Regards,
Bob
