It depends on where you are leaving from and when you plan on going. But Palo Duro Canyon is a unique experience. There is hiking, horseback riding, and a great musical in the evening during the summer.

I've been there hundreds of times and live near. Let me know if you have specific questions.

The state park runs some old CCC cabins up there that are great place to stay... you will have to reserve one though... I used to take my students up there... I hear Caprock Canyons is nice too... Just a little panhandle music to get you in the mood...

When we went to Palo Duro we stopped at the Lone Star Bar and Grill to eat. It is a hole in the wall but the steak was great.

Thanks for all the responses, links and pics. I'll probably make my way with the wife sometime in mid to late March or early April. I'm retired living in the Texas Hill Country right off of and in the middle of HWY 335 about 15 miles from Barksdale and/or Rocksprings. I have had my 97 Standard since late 1996 and still just have not gotten tired of this bike. Anyone every making the Hill Country HWY 335/336/337 Ranch Road loop area trip and looking for some company give me a heads up and I'll be more than happy to ride with you for a while....I'm only a couple of minutes away...... Thanks again for all the input. All the input will shorten my learning curve when I finally get there..... Bob rskloss@gmail.com
