I've had my tourer up to 120. That's when the carbon based poultry related rev-limiter kicked in. Felt like she still had quite a bit left.
If you felt a power stumble in 5th gear at 120 indicated, it was not the rev limiter That's technical jargon for chickening out. Oh I see, thats very different, nevermind

135 indicated a dozen years ago - '98 std, Hondaline shield. It was still climbing but slowly and I was running out of road so backed off. Didn't have a GPS mounted at the time. Have never tried again - not really interested in that much speed, too risky in deer country. Not to mention the idiot cagers on cell phones. I'm happy it will just blast around a pass fast, and I can dispose of a jerk messing with me in most cages. And make the Hardlies look stupid when I fly past them on Vail pass at 85, 2 up with throttle to spare and they are pushing it to eek out 50.

Two weeks after acquiring the fat broad I was on a flat, wide open country two lane cruising at about 65. Decided to see what kind of "roll-on" she had. Twisted the right hand for a few seconds, glanced down at the speedo and saw 105 sweeping by and had my first "HOLY $h1T!" moment on the Valk. Didn't even feel like I was going that fast. Rock solid with plenty left.

I remember getting my 98 to around about 140 indicated a few years ago, I remember I was getting into redline at those speeds. I've only had my 2000 up to 110 indicated, but it doesn't feel as strong as I remember my 98 being.

99 standard 124 M.P.H. on a flat straight road in Casar nc. Smooth as glass.
Had a few thought's go through my mind of dog deer mechanical failure.
Didn't take long to get back down to 55.
Back when I had a new 01 standard I went riding with a friend with his 10 year old son on
the back of his 750 nighthawk. I came up on a big downhill and then a good uphill to slow down
on. I opened her up and hit 128 M.P.H. Let out and was slowing down on the uphill part when a Chevy
S-10 started down the hill. To my surprise about the same time I heard my friend coming
up beside me while I'm still doing over 100. The S-10 had to run off the road to miss him
and as he passed his son looked over at me as if to say help. We stopped at a gas station
1/2 mile up the road and I gave him hell for being stupid. Never road with him again.

With the tall Taxi tire and a good fairing you may get 10 more MPH ?
Anything you do that improves aerodynamics will increase top speed. Changing the gear ratio (e.g. taller tire) will only help if it puts your RPMs where your engine makes the most power at the top speed.

What a jerk. I always wonder about the sport bike riders who ride 150+ and wheelie with their girlfriends on the back.

2K/IS the day we bought her. South bound on I 81 outta Bristol Tn., packin' Sugar, on the original 10 yr old Dunflops, 128 mph on the speedo! (Jus had to know.) Solid as a rock & smooth as glass. My Brother assures me that his Honda Pilot rev'd limit at 117 mph behind us. (We were pullin' away steady.) For sh**'s & giggles, I woke Sugar up half a block from the house with the front end in the air. (Priceless!) I knew all I need'd to!! Peace, Whiskey.

On my '03 (RIP) I maintained 130-135 on I40 for several miles. Keep in mind that was on the speedo, not sure of the actual speed. Same bike wouldn't reach 120 a few weeks later with the Memphis Shades w/s and Baker wings. Fastest I've had my '98 is 115 with w/s and Bakers.

I-10 in West Texas - on this bike (but not this rider) - (Notice the bike is dirty.) Honestly I'm not certain whether that's real or a GPS glich. I was either asleep ot not paying attention at the time. Likely it occurred when I was passing a line of freighters. I've not truly had her to the top. I probably don't have the gonads for it. She does go easily to 105 indicated on the flyway entrance ramp. I really don't know how anyone who owns a Valkyrie could say he had never gone into three digits. People are each different, as are Valkyries.

Well, it hasn't been easy, I can assure you of that. I've had her close to triple digits but, I have kept that commitment up to this point and will try stay with it. Been close a couple of times while passing something but, to my knowledge, haven't done it yet. But, being totally honest, when I'm in the middle of passing something that I need to push it that hard, I'm not looking at the speedo. It'll happen at some point, got pulled over in my youth by a county deputy sheriff, he clocked me over 140 on a KZ1000 out in the Flinthills of KS. Ask me about it the next time you see me.

The fastest I have seen on my 97Standard is an indicated 115 mph. Thats with the hardbags and batwing, 215 lbs of me and my helmet. Started to get a little side to side movement in the bars so I let back off. I have done this several times, gets my blood going better. I chalk the movement up to the batwing.
My relative who bought the bike brand new has touted seeing a solid 140 mph indicated when he owned it. Again, more than once. That's without the bags mounted or a shield of any kind.
As far as the GPS goes, I would say that's more accurate than the speedo for sure. However they aren't infalliable as the above pics show. I have a pic somewhere of the GPS in my rig showing 100 mph THAT would be the day...a 40 ton truck is probably capable of doing it, however I would of vibrated out of mine long before hitting that kind of speed.
Keep in mind that radar guns aren't perfect either...anyone seen a speeding tree? But I assume either the gun or the GPS is much better than the OEM speedo.
As a additional note...my 98 Magna 750 saw an indicated 128 mph for a stretch of around 5 miles. Soft bags and a tall hondaline shield. Seemed pretty solid until I snapped the throttle closed. HOLY HELL! That set off a wicked front end shimmy that scared me pretty good. Taught me to SLOWLY close the throttle after doing speeds like that.

As far as the GPS goes, I would say that's more accurate than the speedo for sure. However they aren't infalliable as the above pics show. The top speed indicated in this GPS screenshot is accurate: It is possible though that it wasn't on the Valk when this speed was recorded.
