I hope this doesn't turn into a war, because I'm not asking which is better.......

Dyna beads: I understand installing through the valve stem can be maddening.  Has anyone been able to dump them in while changing his own tire before the bead was set?  Does it work, or make a big mess on the garage floor?   Is it a bad idea to transfer used ones from the tire you're replacing to the new one?

Ride on:  If you dismount your tire to fix a puncture from the inside, what kind of clean up is required to mount a patch?  After that, can you just put it back on?  Does the old Ride on move back over the repair?  BTW I know Ride on can stop puncture leaks, but if I pull a screw out of the tire, it's coming off to be patched.

Thanks.

I use Dyna beads. When I change tires, I scoop them out of the old tire and put them in the one I am mounting. Put them in while one side of the bead is in and they wont fall out. Mount the upper bead and there you have it.

Have dyna beads in my tires now. One problem is They sometimes get lodged in the tire valve when adding air. It has happened two me on two occasions, and also happened to a riding buddy.

I USE A LITTLE HAND VAC TO SUCK THE OLD BEADS OUT AFTER I HAVE BROKEN THE BEAD DOWN .... CAN USUALLY RECOVER 99 % OF THE OLD BEADS .... WHEN YOU AIR YOUR TIRES, AND CHECK PRESSURE, JUST SHOOT A QUICK SHOT OF AIR IN THE VALVE STEM, AND THAT WILL DISLODGE ANY BEADS AND IT WILL NOT LEAK.

I know this sounds like it wont work but I replaced my front tire and the shop that changed it cut the corner off the dyna bead bag and put bag and all in the tire. He assured me after riding all the beads would come out of the bag and work as they'e supposed to.

Make sure the valve stem is between 9 and 3. If a bead gets stuck in the stem just give it a puff of air. I like Dyna Beads. I've used Ride On also seem to work just fine.

As far as installing DB's, Mount your tire and air it up, then break one bead (The one on the same side as the valve stem, dump the DB's in from the side with the broken bead, and then air up again to reseat the bead.

As far as recovering from the old tire, I tape the flap of an envelope to the inside of the old tire, then roll the tire to capture the DB's in the envelope.  Piece of cake.

I went with the Dyna Beads in the tires of both my Valks.  I put them in through the valve stem.  Got a small length of clear tubing...1/4" I.D.  Clear, because you need to see the progress.  Slipped one end over the stem and have a funnel that the hose slips snugly into the end.  Put enough beads in to fill the hose half way and held a vibrator against the stem and hose.  You will soon figure out the best placement of the vibrator.  The beads need to be "excited" to move through the hose and stem.
When checking the pressure, I tap the stem with the gauge before testing in hopes of dislodging any beads that my be in the stem waiting to get caught in the valve.  This method has worked for me thus far.  (knock on wood)  Wink
Oh, and the ride is smooth!  Cool

I installed Dyna Beads by just putting the little plastic bag they come in inside the tire when mounting. When you drive down the road the bag breaks open releasing beads inside tire. Very easy.
