You can ignore what is below, unless you are curious.  The random ticking was the turn signal relay (found with a mechanics stethoscope).  The turn signal switch must have just barely been touching.  Anyway, pushing the switch stopped the noise.  Oops   Embarrassed .   BTW, the turn signals were not blinking - weird.

Hey, this is an odd one.

I just went to start the bike.  When I turn the key on, I get an intermittent clicking noise from under the seat area.  It is pretty steady, but not rhythmic.

It's a 98 Standard.  I guess it could be part of the angle sensor system.  Could it be the coolant temp unit?

I know that I will have to get there.  It's just that I have a bunch of crap jammed in there (alarm, nitrous solenoids, fuel pump, and a few misc circuits).  Needless to say, it is going to be a pita.

The bike still starts and runs.  Any guesses?  BTW, nitrous, fuel pump, and misc circuits are all disabled, so it is not any of those.

That would be one of your relays.
Located behind the centre panel below your seat. Real Pain in my experience.
Just follow the noise. You should be able to feel the one activating.

Good luck.
