Good choices: 1) To go DS 2) To go DS on the Falken Ziex 512 I'm assuming you went 205/65?

It's a good choice, Ed, but if you haven't already purchased a tire, don't overlook the General Altimax. Valkpilot can provide a comparison of the two.
And, a little birdie told me Timbo will be sporting a new Bridgestone Potenza. As I understand it, another worthy consideration.

VP
Think Im going 205.60.16
Dont think Discount Tire carries the 65.
A tad bit lower is okay with me.

Unfortunately, it's the other way around. The 512 is nearly impossible to find in 205/60. I recommend the General Altimax as a 205/60 choice if you can't get the 512 in that size. I've got the 512 in 205/65 on the Jet bike and the Altimax in 205/60 on the black bike. They are very close in handling and ride characteristics. I say, buy the size you want. PS: I like the look of the Altimax better.

Jeez. What an ordeal and PIA trying to get a CT mounted.
Long long story, but will try to keep it brief.
Forget Discount Tire in Corinth. The manager there (picture on the wall and walks with a limp) was uncooperative and not too bright. First he brought out a Falken with wrong thread pattern, then brought out the right thread pattern but a 15 instead of a 16. Plus he refused to mount it.
I finally had to go with a Bridgestone Potenza 205.60.16.
Almost gave up trying to find somewhere that would mount it.
Discount Tire. No go North Texas Yamaha. Maybe, but closed Mondays Bates Cycle Parts in Dallas. No go Honda Suzuki North. No go Denton Cycle Center. No go
Almost gave up and just bought another Marathon...
But I finally found a place in Denton to reluctantly mount it. PM if you need the details.

Looks good, Ed. Next time you can use our tire changer and DIY. Sorry you had the issue with Discount Tire, Corinth. I've always had good luck there.

Looks a lot like mine, but yours is on the wheel now. I finally got my bike running (man, I was cursing that I missed the wrench party) and thanks to all for your guidance as I worked through troubleshooting.... Looks good, Ed. Next time you can use our tire changer and DIY.
I may need to work out a convenient time to do that, VP. I can't really ride too far until I get the tire changed out. I'm confident it will limp along enough to get there.

What turned out to be the problem?

What turned out to be the problem? The battery was not at full charge, but it still kind of hangs on occasion with a full charge. Starter will kick over and just stop, and if tried again it kicks right over. Disco had an idea of what it is...but for the life of me I am drawing a blank on what he said.

Is it the starter button itself? Dirty contacts? My 2 cents and worth both pennies.

Most chain tire places wont do it. Some small cycle places might. Had a place in Lewisville that would do it, until they went out of business. Since then I've either used VP/Disco's tire changer or the small local tire shop in Lake Dallas.

Went for a ride this afternoon to start getting used to the CT. Drove down to a big empty parking lot off of Loop 288 and FM 428.
Did plenty of slow turns and some faster figure 8s.
Got the hang of it. As most others have posted. It does require a bit more rider input.
Did enough peg scraping to feel comfortable with it.
Would agree it isnt for everyone.

I've got 13k on my Bridgestone Potenza G19 and it still looks new. I've been on the darkside almost all my valkyrie life. I run between 36and 38 psi to get the best wear pattern on my tires. Too little feels mushy and too much will wear the centers out.
